Optional stuff you could do on Koh Phangan (payable locally).
Koh Phangan is a truly beautiful island. With stunning beaches galore, but there’s also plenty of other activities you can entertain yourself with during your time here. Some of our personal favourite things to do are as follows.
You’ve probably heard of the full moon party, it’s the most famous party in the world. But there are plenty of other cool nightspots going on when the full moon party isn’t in full swing. There’s the black main party, half moon party and the lesser-known Eden Garden party held every Saturday and Tuesday. Think psychedelic body paint, pumping music and dancing the night away surrounded by the jungle. Please note there is a small local charge to enter the parties.
Slip and fly
Possibly one of the longest and steepest waterslides in the world. You will get absolutely ridiculous the airborne off this thing! For those who aren’t quite brave enough, there are live DJs and bars to watch the action, plus some smaller less challenging waterslides. Definitely one for the adrenaline junkies.
Than Sadet waterfall is probably the most popular waterfall on the island. however if you wanted to venture further afield, the Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park is incredible. Think Leonardo DiCaprio’s, “the beach” and you have a pretty much the right idea. Incredible snorkelling opportunities due to over 40 protected marine areas, and rewarding hikes beaches and vistas.
You get some of the best sunsets in Thailand here, possibly only beaten by Koh Tao. There are a whole plethora of sunset bars where you can chill and watch the sun setting through the water. We recommend Amsterdam bar, or take advantage of BlueRama’s infinity pool.
Learn to kitesurf
Bantai is the place to head for some kite surf action. Plenty of kite schools, can have you up on a board and finding a new addiction in no time.
