Malapascua is a superb place to improve your diving, it has a great variety of dive sites - from amazing coral to sandy bottom dives, to wall diving. Because the diving is very varied with many different influences there is a great variety of marine life. All the dive sites have excellent macro, so there is always plenty to see.
Some divers have rated Malapascua's dive spots as some of the world's best diving sites. The marine life alone will make you go weak at the knees, but for the adventurous, there are also several wrecks that are located around the island, and of course this is the best location in the world to dive with a thresher shark.

What is a the PADI Thresher Shark Divemaster Programme?
Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational diving begins with the PADI Divemaster programme. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, in this programme you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level.
PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. During the Thresher Shark PADI Divemaster course, you
learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. You complete water skills and stamina exercises, as well as training exercises that stretch your ability to organize and solve problems. You put this knowledge into action through an internship or series of practical training exercises.
Divemaster Bonus ModulesWreck training module: You will learn how to safely dive wrecks and how to use a reel and line to safely penetrate wrecks. At least one of your dives will involve actual wreck penetration. Part of this course includes teaching self-responsibility and risk management capability in overhead environments.
Shark Module
Sharks are fascinating creatures and are a highlight of diving anywhere. In Malapascua we are lucky enough to dive with them every day. Our shark diving module will teach you all about sharks including all kinds of weird and wonderful facts. For instance, did you know that sharks have up to 5 rows of teeth and can get through 30,000 teeth in a lifetime?!
In order to maximize your experience with them on your daily shark dives, one section of this module will focus on Malapascua´s unique thresher sharks: why they are here, how they behave and how you should dive with them. You will even learn how to tell if they are male or female (did you know the male has not one but two "appendages"!), and how to identify the same ones more than once.
First Aid Training Module
Free bonus add-ons to your EFR course:
- Care for Children - learn how to provide first aid and CPR for babies and infants
- AED use - learn how to use the Automated External Defibrillators that are becoming more common in public places. AEDs induces an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat and can save lives.
Emergency Oxygen Provider Module
Be the one ready to help a fellow diver should the need arise by becoming a PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider. We feel this is an essential course for any PADI Professional. As well as the vital skills you will learn during this course, in an increasing number of countries around the world, including the UK, you are required by law to be trained as an oxygen provider before giving oxygen. So from a PADI Professional as well as a liability point of view, it is a necessity.
