For those of you lucky enough to be on your Thailand Gap Year this March, here is a date for your diary…
Since Save Koh Tao took over running the festival two years ago it is not only about music and dancing, it is an opportunity for our community to come together to highlight our past achievements and address environmental and social issues on the island. This year we will be releasing sea turtles, placing down 1,000 juvenile giant clams, and conducting Koh Tao’ biggest land and underwater clean-up ever.
If you are lucky enough to be in Thailand around the 20th and 21st of March ,then do not miss this festival. Admission is free, and all money raised from drinks, food, and games goes to fund the local school and projects conducted through the Save Koh Tao Community Group. Also, be sure to come a day early to catch free food, diving, and more at resorts all over the island.
Of course the lucky Xtreme gappers on Koh Tao will be present, many of whom will be actively involved in helping out conservations efforts with beach clean ups and also underwater clean ups. Particularly those completing gap year diving programmes.
Hats off to the Save Koh Tao members for their continued efforts in preserving paradise, and best wishes at this years festival.
