Venezuela Gap Year

Venezuela Gap Year Country overview.

Venezuela is located in South America in the North East of the continent, taking a Venezuela gap year is a great idea if you want to properly experience some indigenous South American Culture on your gap year.

Caracas, the capital of Venezuela is one of the cheapest entry points into the continent, making a Venezuela gap year and attractive option from the outset.  Of course, there is plenty more incentive to spend a Venezuela gap year than just financial. With endless white coconut fringed sandy beaches typical of the Carribean, Venezuela gap year programmes are definitely ideal if you want to some great beach time and a relaxing start of finish to your South America Gap Year.

Venezuela not only offers beaches, but it is also one of the best destinations for adventure as well. The Amazon rainforest and Orinoco delta provide ample opportunity to explore some hard to reach places. The indigenous Indian population are key for helping you to navigate through some of these hard to reach places, usually by dug out canoe. In fact a gap year in Venezuela is like nothing else. When not trekking through the jungle, there are epic landscapes to discover, The Gran Sabana, the inspiration behind Arthur Conan Doyles the lost World is so incredible, that is would be worth considering a Venezuela gap year just to see it. Ok so there may not be any dinosaurs up there (that we know of) but you will be amazed by how incredible it is.

Venezuela also has another geographical marvel that is something you must see on your Venezuela gap year. Angel Falls. The tallest water fall in the world it is truely an impressive site. Being an extreme sports gap year company we would like to suggest you go base jumping off Angel falls, however we also know that this is not a realistic Venezuela gap year activity, as you will need to complete at least 1000 Sky dives before you can do that, through us you can settle for trekking to the top of the falls on a week long adventure as part of our Travelling class room!

One of our Venezuela gap year programmes the Adventure Classroom, is the perfect way to explore the best of Venezuela and learn Spanish at the same time. Our partners, an award winning Spanish academy are truly adventurous and will take you up the Orinoco via Kayak, where you can live in a jungle camp, and learn forest survival skills of the indigenous Indians, that have kept them safe in the rainforest for centuries. You will learn about the jungle, the environment and eco system, gaining knowledge on your Venezuela gap year is inevitable.
You can also get some serious beach time, based on Playa Colorada the coloured beach one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Venezuela, you can kick back, scuba dive and chill in between expeditions to the jungle or Gran Sabana.

Venezuela has some pretty decent diving too, you are able to get your Padi Divemaster on your Venezuela gap year and gain a professional level qualification at the same time.

You might be looking at taking a Venezuela gap year as part of a wider South America Gap year, this is not uncommon as Venezuela is a good destination to enter the continent and a great place to start your travels. Venezuela does sometimes get some negative press with the government not being that co-operative with the US, but being a socialist country with very rich oil deposits, the citizens are well looked after by the government, and crime is generally much lower than other south American countries, making a Venezuela Gap Year a safe option when you are travelling around.

Xtreme Gap Year have a couple of different options for Venezuela gap year activities, and we are specialists in custom making round the world trips that can incorporate trips around South America. If you are looking for some direction, tips or ideas for things to do or routes to take contact us and have a chat about some of our Adventure Itineraries that are fully flexible, incorporating some independent travel and exciting Venezuela gap year activities.
