Crocodiles, surf tours and cruising down under.

We are about to leave Australia to go to New Zealand, we are gutted because we love it here so much, but also looking forward to New Zealand. Our journey started in Darwin and Kununurra and we met up with our friend Charlie, and celebrated Australia Day with some amazing people. We said our goodbyes to our friends and arrived at the airport in Kununurra, we went to the check in desk and we were told that our flight isn’t untill tomorrow! The good thing was we got to stay an extra day, the bad thing was we had to say our goodbyes again, which is never easy. So we finally got to Darwin and we spent a day there, we didn’t see a lot of Darwin because we didn’t have enough time to book anything and it was really too hot to walk around, but we did see the Harbour and we went to a place called the Crocodylus park where we got to hold a baby crocodile and Pete got to feed a crocodile too. Our hostle in Darwin was ACE! It had roof top pool’s, pool bar and a waterfall jacuzzi. We also went to the cinema on our last evening and it was really nice, but it was nothing compared to the cinema we went to the following night…more on that later. We left Darwin really early and got the plane to Sydney where we had 2 days there. Although our short time here began in the worst possible fashion, we saw all the sights we wanted to and ended up falling in love with the city. We checked in to our Hostel and we made our way up to the room, but didnt make it all the way. We got stuck in the lift on the 5th floor for over an hour and a half, which is my worst nightmare! When we got out however, we received no apologies, and the staff gave us no support or reassurance when we were stuck. We were not impressed. Anyway, enough of the bad and onto the amazing! As we were only in Sydney for such a short time we wanted to see as many of the sights as possible. Amongst these, we went up the sky tower, visited the aquarium, wildlife park, saw the beautiful lights at Darling Harbour, saw and went inside Sydney Opera House, went on a boat cruise across and around the harbour, visited the Australian Museum, strolled through Hyde Park and the Botanic Gardens, went to see a film at the largest 3D cinema screen in the world, and last but not least we climbed Sydney Harbour Bridge, which was awesome!! We certainly felt that we saw all that we wanted to and more, and we had an amazing time in the process. At the wildlife Park we were able to go into the koala enclosure and get up close to the animals and have our pictures taken, Kat loved it as koala’s are her favourite animal! We also got to touch a carpet python snake too! After Sydney, we went on the Mojo Surf tour for 5 days of learning to surf and chilling out by camp fires etc. We traveled up 6 hours north of Sydney to a place called Crescent Head where we went all 5 days. We had such an awesome time here and we met some great people, and best of all we improved with each lesson that we had and we can now surf on our own! You can check out our photo’s on the website, we were there from the 2nd-6th Feb .

The Mojosurf bus dropped us back off in Sydney where we stayed for a night before setting off on a Oz Experience bus to Melbourne. The trip was 3 days long and along the way we visited Canberra (the capital city), stayed at a ski resort and then climbed Australia’s highest mountain, before driving down past the snowy river to the southern most tip of the country, and then arriving in our last destination of Melbourne. The drive was three days, and we stopped off at different places along the way. We saw kangaroo’s and Koala’s out in the wild, which was really special and we also rescued a poor dog that got hit by a car, the dog was blind so we took him on the bus with us and dropped him off at a local police station. We are now in Melbourn and I have to hurry because our taxi is going to arrive any second to take us to the airport. Yesterday we looked around the city and took the free tourist bus around. I met up with my friend Graham Hughes who is travelling around the world and is going to every single country in the world with out flying, he had 15 more country’s left and his journey is being filmed and will be on telvision soon. His first series however has been broadcasted in Asia and here in Aus! It was fasiniating meeting up with him and hearing his stories. Pete and I then went to a Dracula caberet which was awsome. Today we saw a very famous street! we drove past sesame street! But thats not it, we visited Ramsey street and went on the neighbours tour, we also met one of the actors and it turns out that he was in cinderella at the Gordon Craig theatre in Stevenage and know’s about half of my friends! There is so much to talk about but it is so hard to fit everything in with no time! I hope to have more time to write next time! oh, a couple of people I was thinking about recently who I wanted to mention…….. Pete and I surfed along side some dolphins at the surf camp, they were in the water two of the days we were there and I was thinking about my friend Becky who is obsessed with them. Also I have been thinking of Kate Webb, it was her birthday recently. Mel and Rich and Lucy, I miss you guys! Sharron Craven, thinking of you too everyday. Missing everyone, but loving travelling!
