Set on a cliff top in a national park, overlooking the vast golden sands of one of the finest secluded beaches in the Algarve, you will find the Xtreme Gap Surf Shack. Just over a kilometre from a laid back surfer town, Carrapateira.
You could be mistaken in thinking this is the ultimate chilled environment, but you would be wrong, because the full force of the Atlantic hits Carrapateira its beaches providing excellent waves, making it one of the best places to surf in Europe!
For this reason we have selected this area to run our surf improvement camp in Portugal, if you are a beginner we can teach you how to surf too. With endless waves, amazing weather, superb seafood and The best beaches in Europe to relax on after a hard days surfing, believe us when we say you gonna love it!
Beaches and other activities

The Algarve has some of the best beaches in Europe, with golden sands backed up by epic cliff faces meeting the Atlantic ocean. Clear waters make great snorkel conditions, and you may be fortunate to spot a few whales along the way. Being based in Carrapateira you will have access to hundreds of little to die for beaches, many of them secluded.
One of the best ways to check them out its to hire a mountain bike, available locally, you can then head off and check out some incredible view points along the way.
There are also great treks to be had in the area, you will be living in a national park after all... For people able to Scuba dive there is also some fantastic diving spots locally. Any trip to Portugal would not be complete without sampling some of the local Sea food, amazing BBQs and fish so fresh it will melt like butter in your mouth.

Night Life
The Night life in Carrapateira is limited to a couple of bars, beach parties but for those of you who want to party we have good news!!:
A short walk (80 meters) from the tents and bungalow accommodation we have a great night bar/tent. Far away enough to have a good night sleep, and just a stroll away if you decide to party! The huge nightbar-tent,with DJ played music is open on all nights, especially in June, July and August it is very good! And we also attracts a lot of people from outside the camp, so there's always something going on!
We also run transfers to and from Sagres nightbar area for those of you who prefer to hit the town.
Teach me how to surf
We assign each surfer to a group with a similar surf level. All our coaches are certified by the Portuguese Surfing Federation. The surf lessons can be private at extra cost. The team of instructors are some of the best in the industry and they specialise in teaching beginners to intermediates, this means if you have no previous surfin experience they will have you up and feeling the buzz of catching your first wave in no time.
Watch out though, it is a very addictive lifestyle, like skiing moving through the water on top of a surf board as it picks up speed is a great laugh, delivering the much sort after Xtreme Gap endorphins!
At the end of the day you will of course have a few aching muscles, a pretty serious surfer tan: but nothing a evening of BBQs and chilling out with a beer watching an impressive Portugal sunset can not cure. Impressive being an understatement, being on the western peninsular of Europe, there is nothing between you and that bright orange fireball but deep Atlantic ocean cooking up a fresh swell for the next mornings surf.
