The good thing about teh Oz experience is the freedom! You can hop on hop off the bus at your leisure.
I did the the East Coast - from Sydney to Cairns - also known as the 18-25 route! Because a vast majority of the people you meet are of that age...!
The East Coast of Oz is a backpackers dream with small stops in between bigger cities. You can do as little or as much as you feel like - for example Surf School, Zorbing, Bungee Jumping, Skydiving, Croc Farm Visits etc.... And the beauty of it the drivers are pretty sound and down to earth that they organise a lot for you.
And its not just the ordinary activities either, you stop at a cattle ranch and go goat herding, learn to lazoo and shoot a rifle. And stay in a out of the way farm where you can go Night Kayaking - crazy but recommended!
Take 2 months off and do this trip, I met so many cool like minded people. But be aware the majority are very young! My reccomended Places to stop off at - Bryon Bay, Noosa, Fraser Island, Airlie Beach (but don't stay too long!!!!) Whitsundays, the list is endless! Highly reccommended!!!!!!

I travelled alone and used the Oz experience and i thought it was great. You can stay as long as you like in some places, however it is true that whatever townt he bus stops in, youmust also stay there! I didn't mind tho, we went to places off the beated track that i would not normally have seen and there were great. Met some great people along the way too. AND it just takes the hassle of finding a hostel etc on your own...Ejnoy!
