Arriving on your gap year in Australia.

So you are either going to be arriving on your gap year in Australia in the near future, or you are thinking about taking an Australia gap year. On this page you will find plenty of useful information that can assist your arrival on your gap year in Australia.

Visas for your Australia gap year

Depending on how long you wishs to stay in Australia and and whether you wish to work, will influence your choice of Visa.

Tourist Visas

Unless you are a New Zealander or someone from Papua New Guinea, you will need a visa to enter Australia. There are two basic choices when it comes to tourist visas: a 3 month visa and a 6 month visa (it is possible to extend this to 12 months). Working Holiday Visas

If your intention is to work in Australia on your gap year, then you will need the Working Holiday Maker visa. Several different versions of this visa exsist but you can apply for the basic visa if you are from: Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Citizens of Chile, Thailand or Turkey may also be eligible under a Work and Holiday visa.
 
To obtain this visa you must be between 18-30 and apply outside of Australia, Yo must also not have dependent children either.

Working on your Gap year in Australia

If you are planning to hear to Australia to find work And many people do with over 100,000 WHV (working holiday visas) issued each year then your are probably wondering where to start.
You can organise this yourself, through the Australian consulate, alternatively we can do this for you with our working holiday set up programme.

Australia is huge, this can not be underestimated. If you wish to travel the entire country this will take some planning.
The most convenient way to do this is via a pre arranged Australia Overland Tour. These are great for taking you to the main attractions in small groups.

The younger crowd is best suited to the Oz experience. This is a hop on hop off bus backpacker bus network that takes you to all the best places in Australia. Some like to really go independently and hire a wicked camper, or buy a car (we would not recommend buying a car however - contact us to find out why).

Staying put in one place or completing a gap year programme
