    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the most effective, reality-based fighting systems in the world and Rio De Janiero is one of the top places to learn, but arranging to head out there and find a suitable academy can be fraught with pitfalls and annoyances. We work with one of the top academies in Rio, Gordo Jiu jitsu, affiliated with Evolve MMA. The training is superb with a roster of some incredible names including several world champions in the martial arts world.

    Exceptional Training

    You training will be conducted in principal by Dennis Asche,

    Dennis is an Instructor at Evolve Mixed Martial Arts in Brazil. 

    A well-rounded martial artist in both the striking and ground games, he is a Professional MMA fighter with a 5-1 record.  Dennis has over 20 years of experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Karate, Wrestling, Boxing, and other fighting systems. 

    He has competed and won in numerous tournaments across different disciplines. Dennis holds a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under the legendary Roberto "Gordo" Correa de Lima.

    You may also train under other world class atheletes like Roberto "Gordo" Correa de Lima who is a world champion! Roberto is the head of Evolve Brazil and runs the training academy Gordo Juijitsu.  Gordo is a legendary Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 5th Degree Black Belt and the inventor of the half-guard.  He is BJJ Black Belt World Champion and has won every major BJJ title - many of them multiple times.  Having trained with the Gracie Family all of his life,

    Gordo is considered to be one of the top 5 BJJ masters in Brazil.

      He has produced many BJJ World Champions including BJJ Black Belt World Champion Marcio "Pe de Pano" Cruz, current Super Heavyweight BJJ Black Belt World Champion Antonio Braga Neto, BJJ World Champion Leandro Thomas da Silva, and many others.  He has also produced many MMA fighters such as Strikeforce Champion Renato "Babalu" Sobral, UFC fighter Rafael dos Anjos and Marcio Cruz.  Gordo's younger brother is BJJ World Champion Rafael "Gordinho" Correa de Lima.
    Gordo is also a co-leader of the Evolve Fight Team with Gordinho and Chatri.  He has coached and cornered many top MMA fighters such as Renzo Gracie, Ryan Gracie, Renato Babalu Sobral, Rafael dos Anjos, Delson Heleno, Braga Neto, and many others at top events such as the UFC, Pride FC, Art of War FC, etc.

    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)

    Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is one of the most effective, reality-based fighting systems in the world. The basic premise of BJJ is that 90% of fights end up on the ground. As such, BJJ is focused primarily on effective ground fighting. The goal is to put an opponent into situations on the ground where joint locks and/or chokes can be applied to force him/her to submit.

    Setting you up for some seriously rewarding training

    There are lots of BJJ academies in Rio, but not all are particularly accessible to gringos (that people from outside of Brazil!) Finding the right training school, where communication is easy, and you will not get ripped off can be a bit of a lottery.

    Fortunately our partners have been there and done it all, they are westerns with over 8 years of experience of training in Rio, who have settled to develop their BJJ skills with the top martial artists in their field. Having learnt the pitfalls and mistakes first hand, ensures you will not encounter the same problems, just world class training from Black belt masters
