Gaucho Polo Argentina Essential Info

Argentina is a land of extreme beauty, with rich grass lands providing the perfect proving grounds for Gauchos - Argentinian cowboys. During this programme, you will learn to play polo under the supervision of professional polo players, at the polo club, run by a family with a rich heritage of playing polo professionally.

The club, established in 1987 has 3 Polo grounds and can accommodate 100 horses, other facilities include a huge swimming pool, a tennis court, and 2 guest houses with seven double bedrooms and private bathrooms.. You will not only learn how to play, but you will also be hands on in caring for the horses and ponies, working alongside Gauchos, who will give you a thorough grounding in equine care and the host family who will treet you as one of the familly, welcoming you in and getting you to share in their lifestyle, social programmes and friends.

Depending on match schedules, you may be able to compete in a tournament, and you will certainly get the opportunity to watch some incredible games also. You will also get the chance of visiting the most famous and traditional polo clubs in Argentina, plus meeting high goal polo players. On weekly trips to BA, everything can be organized, from cheap shopping to a smart visit to the red light district, full of lovely "lady boys"...

The training will be 6 days a week but Mondays is always taken off, to explore the exciting city Buenos Aires or surrounding areas, with plenty of activities to keep you occupied on your down time - like learning the Tango or Spanish (optional extras), chill out in the pool, play tennis or enjoy a serious BBQ Argentina style! You can also visit the best Zoo in South America; play tennis or golf in different places; assist to many horses auctions where all the famous polo players and most of worldwide known patrons and sponsors meet. Enjoy barbecues amongst wild gauchos, who often organize rodeos to show their guts and wildness

Polo is arguably the oldest recorded team extreme sport in known
history, with the first matches being played in Persia over 2500 years
ago. Initially thought to have been created by competing tribes of
Central Asia, it was quickly taken up as a training method for the
King’s elite cavalry. These matches could resemble a battle with up to
100 men to a side.

Pre Requisites

You must be able to ride comfortably, and be keen on helping out at the stables (you will have 2 horses to care for).

Special events...
Locally, we organize two or three big polo events per year. All our clients attending the polo school at that moment take part of the tournaments. We spread them amongst the different teams. When major tournaments are being played in Buenos Aires or at any other polo club in the area, we always adapt our polo schedule for being able to assist with our guests to these high goal matches.
