Save the Amazon Rainforest.

It’s a little-known secret that the Amazon rainforest is under threat every day the size of several football pitches is lost from the world’s greatest rainforest. Instead of just sitting on your ass doing nothing about it, why not make your gap year a mission to give something back to mother nature.

Signing up to a cause this noble takes guts, it’s not a task to be taken lightly and it’s certainly not for everyone but the rewards are huge. Now thanks to the xtreme gap year Ecuador conservation experience you can get involved first-hand with reforestation projects and wildlife conservation projects that truly benefit in four different wildlife and conservation reserves in Ecuador.

Ecuador located in the Andes in South America, is a hugely diverse country both in terms of its peoples and its landscapes. From the Pacific coast the Andes rises quickly and then drops down giving way to the Amazon rainforest. As you can imagine each of these topographical zones provide a different experience and ecosystem so it is fortunate you can get involved in all of the reserves depending on how long you choose to attend the project.

On arrival in Ecuador’s capital city so you have a full induction from our local coordinators will help you plan your transfers to the projects which due to their very nature can be quite remote however full support is given all the way.

During the project you can expect to do quite a lot of different diverse activities from reforestation to wildlife surveys education amongst local inhabitants and plenty of other activities. Accommodation although basic is perfectly comfortable in really cool getaway from all reserve station located in four different remote regions.

You can choose to spend your time from two weeks to 12 weeks in just one reserve or in all four just bare in mind  some of the reserves are little bit more adventurous than the others: Bilsa for example is 2 days away and accessed by mule!

If you’re looking for a conservation gap year idea or looking to experience life in the heart of the Amazon then this is a program for you.
