Fraser Island Adventures on an Australia Gap Year

Fraser island is one of the most popular trips backpackers make along the East coast of Australia. Seeking out good times and incredible beaches, gap year students and backpackers all end up here eventually. Why? Well for the adventure!
Fraser Islands is a unique natural environment – it is the largest sand island in the world and the only place on the planet where rainforest grows from sand. This gives the island a surreal habitat of beach and jungle, together. Naturally the only way to get around on the Island is by 4×4- which when you book through Xtreme Gap, is loaded up with 6 other people, tents, food and of course the beloved goon, and then you are let loose, cruising up 90 mile beach!
Fraser Island is definitely worth a visit, Rich Aboriginal heritage and a colourful European history are integral to Fraser Island, but the real fun comes in with the group you are with. It is back to nature but undeniably fun! With minimal light pollution, a millions of stars over head, camping out on fraser island, is an incredible experience, but be warned there will probably be a few bags of goon going around as well.

Some of the most famous and popular areas of the island include massive sand dunes, fresh water lake like lake makenzie, and famous ship wrecks lying scattered on the sands. The resident dingos (Aussie Wild Dogs) make life a little interesting too!
