I asked Ann-Marie a few questions regarding the surf dude course she followed in Australia. Surfing in Australia.

  1. Why did you choose to travel with Xtreme Gap Year. Was it price, programmes, the fear of travelling alone, your parents…

I chose Xtreme Gap Year because it had the longest surf course that I could find anywhere on the internet
and it was in Australia, which is one of my favourite countries. Plus the price was reasonable.

  • Why did you decide to book through a gap Year Company?

I chose to book through Xtreme Gap because I would have the security that things had been booked and planned in advanced, which is nice when you travel far away all on your own for the first time.

  • Was the trip the same, better or worse then you thought it would be?

It was so much better than expected – I had the time of my life back in Australia at the surfcamp. I was only
supposed to have stayed for 1 month, but I got a job at the camp and ended up staying for 3!

  • What was your best experience during your travels.Think about overcoming fears, meeting new friends, getting to know a new skill, seeing amazing places etc.

The best experience was definitely the wonderful people I met, I got a lot of new friends from all over the world.
Second was the surfing and it was all due to our awesome surfcoach, who taught us so well and so much
about surfing and anything related to the world of a surfer.

  • What was the worst experience during your travel, was there anything you did not expect, what did not live up to your expectations and most of all why…

The goodbye … it was awefull!

  • What could we have done to make it even better?

The information I recieved before I travelled to Australia about the surf course and my accommodation
didn’t match the reality when I arrived. In your program it said that I would stay at 2 different
surfcamps throughout my stay, which was not correct. I would only stay at 1, which luckily turned out to be the
coolest place I’ve ever been to!(Sorry about that Ann Marie, We then forgot to mention you will not start the firts few days at our other surf camp in the Australian winter, it is on the website now!)

But I can see that your web page and the information given now to your customers has improved, that’s good.

  • General remarks, tips and feedback. Or just a great story about your trip.

You have choosed some really good surfcamps as a set up for your surf academy. Good choice!
