Gap Year Jobs. Down Under.

If you are looking for work in Australia on your Australia gap year, you need not worry about finding it challenging. Getting a job there is pretty straight forward, and there are plenty of options to assist you find work if you are getting an Australian Working holiday visa. The real secret, is to be smart about what kind of job you get.

Crew on boats down under and get paid $500 a week.

Put it this way, if you were to look for a job when you arrive, and end up working in an office, temping, like many other Australia gap year takers, then you really will be missing out. After all, working in an office, with its neon strip lighting and office politics, is exactly the same boring job you could get back home. Shouldn´t a gap year abroad be about life changing travel, and having a different experience?
Don´t worry, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and it is courtesy of Xtreme Gap Year. They are a gap year company specialising in Australia gap years with a twist. You see they have a range of gap year qualifications that enable you to work down under in some very cool jobs.
Take the Whitsunday sailing courses they offer for example. This is a 23 day course based on the great barrier reef marine park. During the course you train to crew as a boat crew member, getting to sail in one of the worlds most beautiful marine locations. At the end of the course you are then given a job crewing on the fleet of yachts sailing regularly round the Whitsundays.

The great thing about this course is it pays for itself, as you can earn up to $500 a week, with the added benefit of having zero living costs. As the job entails you live on the boats (think luxurious mega yachts…tough eh?) and your food is included as well. This is pretty sweet, but then figure out that you also can´t spend anything whilst you are working either, the money soon piles up.
Then we have the beach lifeguard qualification. Now this is not your average day job! Think David Hasselhoff with out the chest wig. That could be you! Ok, so unless you are German, you probably don´t get turned on at the though of that, but considering you do get to live and work on the beach, and get paid alot to do it, and it starts to look pretty interesting. (Up to 500 GBP a week)

If you are starting to think that actually these qualifications sound pretty appealing, you are correct. Work can be fun on your Australia Gap year. However we have saved the best for last.

The Xtreme Gap Surf dude course is the mother of all Australia gap year jobs. Over a 3 month period, they will take you from a beginner to a surf instructor, enabling you to work in any of the 90+ surf schools in Australia. If you think hanging out by the beach checking out the latest talent rolling of the latest Oz experience bus could be fun, again, you are correct.
That is all well and good, but when you also consider the fun you can have during thre training… 3 months of living by the beach, surfing every day, hanging out with loads of backpackers (you train at one of the top backpacker surf academies) and you know you are onto a winner.
