Surf conditions in Qamea
(suitable for beginner and improver surfers all year; other surfers November to June)

Qamea island is fairly remote, but offers the perfect combination of that get away paradise and epic surf conditions.  About 800 meters off the white sandy beaches is a reef break, that parts giving you a left and right hander.

The right-hander break can be surfed on in high and low tide, it is suitable for intermediate to advanced levels.

The left-hand break is a bit more of a challenge.

When the bigger swells are in there is a serious break to contend with! Albeit all the breaks contain big swells (triple overhead and bigger and they still don’t shut down) although double overhead is more common.

Now most people coming from the UK don´t have that much surf experience (unless you are a veteran of the Australia Surf Dude programme or have spent a few weeks surfing in Bali enroute to Fiji), so you might be relieved to know that beginners are well looked after in the Fijian surf.

As you swing from a hammock looking out over the stunning, white and endless sandy beach,  fringed with lazy palm trees you might notice the  perfect smaller waves breaking.

We’ve installed our own artificial reef just out from our private beach allowing the perfect sized waves to break consistently which is ideal for those starting to surf!
