Mountaineering Elbrus in Russia, Essential Information
Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe and Russia. Elbrus belongs to the Great Caucasus and is more than 5000m high. The routes to Mount Elbrus are not difficult and therefore attract many travellers from all over the world. You can reach mount Elbrus without having a mountaineering qualification, but is is a big challenge… Elbrus is the highest peak of Europe and Russia.
Technically speaking this summit is not undo able, but the biggest challenge is the Arctic climate in glaciers, this demands a lot of physical strength and determination, those who succeed will truly feel like they are standing on top of the world.

How to Get There Fly into Vody Airport. From there you will be picked up. It is a 3 hour drive to the Baksan Valley where you will be staying in an hotel. If you need help with booking your flights just let us know.
Why Xtreme Gap
This part of Russia is beautiful but not easy to travel, there are lots of rules and public transport is not always available. Expedition Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival to Mineralny Vody. Bus transfer to the Baksan Valley, 2200 m (2-3 h). Hotel accommodation.
Day 2
Trekking in the Terskol region. Chair lift to the middle station, 2700 m. Acclimatization walk to Cheget Cupola, 3450m.
A magnificent viewpoint over Elbrus. Return to the hotel (4-5 h).
Day 3
Drive by cable car and chair lift to the "Barrels", the high altitude hut, 3750 m. Acclimatization ascent up to the Priyut Hut, 4100 m. Overnight in “Barrels”.
Day 4
Acclimatization ascent up to Pastukhov Rocks, 4700 m. Overnight in "Barrels".
Day 5
Preparation to the summit day.
Day 6
Summit day: early start at 3:00 a.m. Ascent on the western summit, 5642 m (10 - 12 h). Overnight in "Barrels".
Day 7
Reserve day for bad weather or descend to the hotel.
Day 8
Transfer Terskol - Mineralny Vody airport. Departure home.
