Set on a cliff top in a national park, overlooking the vast golden sands of one of the finest secluded beaches in the Algarve, you will find the Xtreme Gap Surf Shack. Just over a kilometre from a laid back surfer town, Carrapateria. You could be mistaken in thinking this is the ultimate chilled environment, but you would be wrong, because the full force of the Atlantic hits Carrapateras beaches providing excellent waves, making it one of the best places to surf in Europe! For this reason we have selected this area to run out learn to surf programmes and surf improvement clinics in Portugal. With endless waves, amazing weather, superb seafood and Europe´s best beaches to relax on after a hard days surfing, believe us when we say you are gonna love it!
Beaches and other activities
The Algarve has some of the best beaches in Europe, with golden sands backed up by epic cliff faces meeting the Atlantic ocean. Clear waters make great snorkel conditions, and you may be fortunate to spot a few whales along the way. Being based in Carrapatera you will have access to hundreds of little to die for beaches, many of them secluded and to die for. One of the best ways to check them out its to hire a mountain bike, available locally, you can then head off and check out some incredible view points along the way. There are also great treks to be had in the area, you will be living in a national park after all... For people able to Scuba dive there is also some fantastic diving spots locally. Any trip to Portugal would not be complete with out sampling some of the local Sea food, amazing BBQ´s and fish so fresh it will melt like butter in your mouth.
Accommodation We have a couple of options to choose from as standard we put you up in a surf bungalow based on 3 people sharing, on a bed and breakfast basis (Full board is also available), if you are travelling in a group we are also able to accommodation you in a private apartment (sleeps 5) â contact us for prices.
Night Life The Night life in Carrapateria is limited to a couple of bars, beach parties and the Surf camp night bar, but for those that feel like venturing out further we also offer a shuttle bus to the the nightspots in Sagres.
Getting there & when to go We run a group start dates on the 1st July, 15st August
If these dates don´t work for you, we also except bookings all year round except in November to March. Due to the short distance between Portugal and the UK, you can take a long weekend and go surfing. Getting there is easy simply fly into Faro where you will be met at the airport and taken to the surf camp.

Depending upon your surf ability you will be put into groups of students with similar abilities.
