Kung Fu in China Essential Info

The Xtreme Gap Martial Arts gap year programme Kung Fu training in China will teach you how to be a Kung Fu master! Well certainly a step in the right direction.

Our Chinese Martial Arts Academy has been founded on the simple principle of having the very best world class Kung Fu Masters available to teach you Kung Fu in China.
The setting, a UNESCO global heritage site is ideal for learning Kung Fu in a safe and awesome environment. The level of Kung Fu you learn really depends upon your learning ability and how long you train for, but one thing is for certain, a couple of weeks spent on your gap year learning Kung Fu in China will be enough to turn you in to a serious bad ass.

The Martial Arts Training

Every group has its own master. The groups will have max. of 10 students. This means that you will be watched! No slacking off! Concentration and a 100 percent effort is expected! Another thing: The lessons are in Mandarin which is cool, you really get in the culture. It will not stand in your way to learnwe will make sure there is someone present to ensure you understand all the moves.

What to expect:

What you can expect to learn and achieve by attending the Xtreme Gap Martial Arts school in China: Increased health & fitness. Basics in which ever style you choose (Shaolin Quan,Modern Wushu, Sanda, Qinna, Baji Quan, Pigua Zhang, Qigong, Taiji Quan, XingYi, Bagua and /or White Crane). At least 2 fist forms. Basic hard Qigong (optional). Basic Mandarin (optional). In 1 to 3 months is enough to get a grip on the basics of Chinese Kung Fu, no matter which ever style you choose to learn. If you are a Kung Fu practitioner back home you can expect to progress quicker than at home.

All of the above is a rough guide. Because everyone learns at their own pace and some people attend with previous martial arts expereince it is impossible to tell you exactly what you can and cant learn during your stay; However, training is tailored to the individuals requirements and ability. No matter what you prior level of training is this will be a great fitness holiday and martial arts gap year.

When To Go

You can learn Kung Fu in China all year round, however during Chinese new year, the Chinese Martial Arts Academy runs a limited programme (training still takes place, but not with the Chinese masters). This is not a reason to avoid this time of year, as Chinese new year spent in China, has its benefits! Chinese new year varies by year to year but roughly it is during late January early February.

The school is located in a beautiful setting in a geological park that covers about 492 sq Km. Semi-tropical weather. The highest temperature in the summer reaching 34C and the lowest temperature in the winter going below -5C. However, because our school is in the mountains, the summer is cooler than in the town. The best time to travel to this area is in spring or autumn.
