What’s so awesome about doing your dive master anyway? Doing a divemaster course can be a different experience depending on where you do it, but one thing is for sure it’s a great way to spend a couple of months, taking a break out of life and really enjoying yourself.

There are a huge range of exotic destinations where you can do your dive master course, each has its own benefits and might be a better fit to your personal desires depending on what you want to get out of your course. Some of the most popular courses are in Asia particularly Thailand. However don’t overlook other cool destinations such as the Philippines and Indonesia.

Thailand’s very popular particularly Koh Tao because has a huge diving scene on the Island. Lots of diverse means lots of people with similar interests great nightlife, beautiful beaches exotic Thai culture and lots of fun. It is basically a tropical island playground, where you dive every day, go out every night, make lots of friends and have the time of your life.

The Philippines particularly Malapascua, and also offers a tropical island lifestyle, beautiful aqua marine water and those to die for beaches yet it is slightly less crowded than Koh Tao. The island is unique also in that it’s the only place in the world where it’s very likely that you will encounter the thresher shark. Thresher sharks are about 2 m long and normally live very deep in the ocean, we’re talking about 200 m deep, which is well beyond the reach of divers. In malapascua there is one particular dive site where Threshers swim up from the depths very early in the morning to swim around the top of the pinnacle it is believed they do this because it’s a cleaning station. The pinnacle called M0nad Shoal peaks out at about 30 m so on good days you can see up to 10 thresher sharks circling around the top of the pinnacle. As you can imagine seeing a 3 m shark swimming a couple of feet away can be a pretty exciting experience. It’s not just the threshers that make Malapascua interesting to the dive master has plenty of small sea life unique to this region here. When you’re not in the water you have white sandy beaches totally unspoiled and just pure relaxation in the tropics.

Indonesia in particular the Gili Islands are another prime dive master location, the gili Islands are a chain of five Sandy Islands just off Bali. They are tiny but stunning again with beautiful water warm and clear teaming with sharks (little ones black reef sharks)and hundreds and hundreds of turtles. You get manta rays, whale sharks and millions of tropical fish.

It’s not just diving that makes doing your dive master course an awesome experience. When you spend two months three months learning to become a professional diver it’s more about the people that you meet them what you experience in the water sometimes. Imagine forming a close knit group of friends in a beautiful tropical location where you are all up for having a laugh. Typically life is easy-going and you have this feat feeling of complete freedom and fun and just well-being in general unsurprising really when you having the time of your life.

More often than not deciding where to do your dive master is the hardest part about actually completing the course, with so many really cool places to do it (and also some not so interesting places to do it well) without having been to these destinations fall it’s hard to make a good judgement.
