Manta is a mid-sized city in Manabí Province, Ecuador. It is the second most populous city in the province, the fifth most populous in the country and, economically, the third most important city of Ecuador. Manta has existed since Pre-Columbian times. It was a trading post for the Mantas.
Manta is a busy town that sweeps around a bustling bay. Located in the province of Manabì, the area offers a wide range of cultural and natural beauties. The western section of the city comprises steep, narrow streets and the Malecón, and a constant breeze from across the bay makes it pleasant to walk along there even in the evening.

About Manta
Manta has some of South America’s most breathtaking beaches. Its main beach, Playa Murciélago (Bat Beach), is in the Malecón area. It features a modern scenic boardwalk, craft markets, bars and a variety of restaurants offering local culinary specialties, excellent seafood fresh out of the ocean and the region’s most delicious drinks.
In the city one also finds a selection of first rate nightclubs and bars, an amusement park, and cinemas. While soccer is the main sport of the city, water sports such as surfing, scuba diving, water skiing, kiteboarding and kite surfing are also very popular. It is also renowned for its sport fishing.
