The Avenue of the volcanoes. Sounds dramatic doesn’t it. Whilst we won’t guarantee that you’re covered in lava ash and flying hot rocks, we can guarantee you will be surrounded by a truly beautiful setting exactly as you would expect while backpacking in South America.

The Avenue of the volcanoes is where we head out to during the Ecuador adrenaline overload, and also on the round the world South America trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of Quito for a few days. It is also the base for our Cotopaxi climbs and Chimborazo climb, conveniently located not far from the ultra-chilled hostel located slap bang in the middle of this national park.

One of the day’s activities when you’re on the adrenaline overload, is to mount up and go horseriding in the Avenue of the volcanoes. Do not worry if you’ve never ridden a horse before, this is not gaucho style galloping across fields, but it is a spectacular way to view the surrounding area and actually the easiest way to get around.

It’s a full day trip, fully guided just make sure you bring a camera because you’re going to see some amazing views probably with two horses ears poking their way into frame.

The Ecuador adrenaline overload is one of our Ecuador gap year trips, we have lots of different exciting programs based on Ecuador including conservation programs, surfing and language programs, climbing and of course visiting the Galapagos Islands. We can custom build your perfect south America backpacking trip.
