Itinerary
Prepare for 3 days of glorious messy adventure. La Tomatina is the stuff of legends. Pointless? Perhaps. Fun? You bet. Come get one of your 5 a day in true Xtreme Gap Style.
Tuesday August 28th - Arrival into Valencia
You will be met at the airport and transfer to a hostel in Valencia, check in and check out the town, this evening we will head down to Bunol to scope out the town the nightlife before the big tomato fight. There is a week of festivities in the town so there will be lots going on including a massive Paella cook off.
Wednesday 29th August
A reasonably early start as the festival kicks off at 10am. We will head to Bunol (30Kms from Valencia) by private car and get set up for the carnage. Remeber to bring only essential items with you. We will provide googles for eye protection and a Tshirt, expect it to get very messy.
Order of events

Depart Valencia at 7am (either by private car or train depending on numbers)

Arrive Bunol 7.45am

Grab some breakfast and get set up in the Plaza.

Take some money with you, coins offcourse. And take something to drink and eat for Plaza del Pueblo, it’s a long time from 8:00 to 11:00. When walking from the trainstation to the Plaza, there will be enough opportunities to buy drinks and snacks. Don’t drink too much, with so many people, going to the toilet is unthinkable. But not drinking with hot wetter is also not good of course.

Around 9.30 the Greasy pole will be revealed and those brave enough to attempt to climb it set up in to action.

At 10am once the Jamon prize has been won, the action starts. A huge water cannon signals the beginning.

One hour of mayhem ensues.

11am the fight ends, we hose off an make our way back to Valencia.
The remainder of the day we will check out Valencia and hit the Tapas bars, there will be some serious parties going on.
Thursday
Check out and explore Valencia at your own leisure, the trip ends.
