Week 4: Action & Surf Week
There are not that many set activities planned for the fourth week, this is because you will want your own space and time to chill check out the beaches and go surfing. Don’t worry there is plenty to do, lots of day trips and tours can be arranged at the front desk if you have had enough of the beaches.
Here is what is included:
Surfing
Try out some surfing. One lesson is included, but you can book some extra lessons locally if you are up for it. Canggu beaches provide a wild wave that is suitable for surfing. Echo beach is the famous surf beach in Canggu. There you will meet other surfers who try to conquer the wild wave.
Most people joining the Xtreme Bali Experience have little or no surf experience, and that’s okay because you will be in the capable hands of our top pro surfers. Within a couple of hours of being in the water will get you up and surfing, teaching the theory, the safety and who knows may be stoking a new addiction.
If you want to properly experience surfing in Bali, then we recommend bolting on the surfing in Bali trip, if you and intermediate that can really develop the skills, and just have an amazing time ripping it up on some of the more challenging waves, even if you are a beginner in one week we can get you to a pretty good standard with a lot of fun in the process.
Yoga Classes
With intricate Hindu temples, surrounded by lush jungles and emerald green rice paddies, there is a very spiritual vibe to Bali. What better way to explore this, then trying out some yoga and really soaking up the Bali experience.
Surrounded by green gardens and clean air, Yoga Shala Canggu is secluded from the hustle bustle of Kuta and Seminyak.
Built newly in 2010, a 58meter2 (30pax max capacity) yoga studio has a 270° view of the beautiful surrounding of Canggu as the background, yoga here is tranquil and peaceful. The yoga hall is equipped with fans, power plugs (cd tape available), and low-energy light bulbs. Yoga Mats and blocks are provided.
Yoga not your thing? Then you can have an hour massage instead. The perfect way to sooth those post surf aching shoulders.
The Xtreme Bali Experience is designed to give you a real taste of Bali, taking you to places that you wouldn’t normally see on your typical backpacker tourist trail. There are activities that you will look back on, like learning to surf, that will add some serious kudos to your travels, there will be breathtaking moments surrounded by incredible landscapes, and some bizarre moments when you know you are definitely not a home (like having high tea in the mystical tea house). There is plenty of chill time, and opportunities to go off and explore on your own as well, we believe that you should have plenty of time to do your own thing as well which really helps you soak up the unique atmosphere that Bali has to offer.
Not included on the final week but optional extras bookable locally:
Get Cultural and Explore Bali
For a day of culture and dramatic landscapes our tour guide will point out all the best temples and volcanoes and take you to the most interesting parts of the island. Each day trip is unique, in that we ask you what you would most like to see, but some of the most popular options include:
- The thriving capital and cultural heart of Bali: Ubud
- The enchanted monkey forest
- Rice field terraces, ok so there are a lot of these in Bali, but some are simply spectacular
- Bbarong/kecak fire dance
- Kkintamani volcano or Gunung Batur a semi active Volcano
- Alternatively you can head out on a beach trip to places like Uluwatu, Bukit, Padang, Nusa Dua or Jimbaran
Sightseeing in Tanah Lot
One of the things that makes Bali so unique amongst all the different islands that make up Indonesia, is that the main religion is Hindu. This gives Bali a completely different feel to most of the other places in the country. Remember that Indonesia is the most populated Islamic country in the world, so this little island has had to withstand a lot of external influence to remain true to its Hindu roots.
Evidence is everywhere, with ornate Hindu temples popping up in the strangest of places, you can be strolling through the jungle, walking through a rice paddy and if you are approaching the coast at Tanah Lot you will be sure to see plenty of Hindu temples there as well.
Tanah Lot refers to a collection of temples perched on rocky outcrops right by the coast,
The temples are undoubtedly impressive and not definitely a must see experience when visiting Bali. During the trip we will take you to Tanah Lot so you can check out the temples for yourself, and most likely you will encounter the Hindu ritual of leaving offerings to the spirits, usually made up of food wrapped in banana leaves left out to appease the gods.
Not much evidence goes on that this works however, although the stray dogs and cats do rather well out of it.
Trip End
The Xtreme Bali Experience finishes on the Saturday making it 27 nights.
Please note airport drop-off is not included but is easily arranged through the reception of the hostel, this will
If you would like further information on this trip, or Bali in general hit the get trip notes button or contact us on the web form below. cost about £15 you can also opt to bolt on the Gili Islands Adventure after this trip finishes, this is the perfect place to learn to dive, laze on some beautiful sandy beaches and try some of our xtreme activities like free diving!
Accommodation
Week 1-3
During the Intro, Adventure and Cultural Immersion Weeks the accommodation will vary depending on the project, but will be in shared bedrooms at our house. Meals during these weeks are included. The food is traditional Balinese for 3 meals/day on weekdays, weekends (2 meals/ day)
All participants are expected to be environmentally responsible and to use all resources with restraint, especially water, paper and electricity. You will be expected to clean up after yourself, and to play your part to keep the accommodation neat and tidy.
During the Action and Surf week accommodation is at Echo Beach – THE Surf location in Bali
7 nights in luxury shared accommodation, please note no food is included during the Surf week but you can eat for about two pounds per meal. There are lots of restaurants locally.
Our Accommodation is an ideal place to start and end each day and by making this your base, we will help you to feel, experience and explore the real Bali. The perfect peaceful escape from the over developed and bustling, even manic areas of Kuta and Seminyak, which although only a short twenty five minutes drive away, seem to be a whole world away.
Echo Beach is a good destination to spend your sunset time, stunning sunset view, great beach side restaurants and cafes, surfing, great atmosphere and vibes; a nice getaway from hubbub of Kuta and a good alternative sunset dinner besides Jimbaran.
The central part of the beach is long gone, replaced by a substantial retaining wall which both protects and provides a large recreation area to some of Canggu’s restaurants, best known of which (and famous for its barbecues) is Echo Beach House.
With benches, tables and umbrellas scattered in front of the sea, and the surfing happening within easy eye shot, it’s a great place to nurse a few cold drinks, munch down on the food and enjoy the show that goes on, in and out of the water — no shortage of posers here!

Yes, We have. There is the local internet access in the house centre. Participants should bring their Laptop. The Internet is for free off charge and good enough for Email,Facebook, Blog etc. There are many restaurant and coffee shop nearby 2 minute walk with free Wi-fi as well.
If you’re here for a short time, and only staying in Ubud, you can easily get along by walking everywhere … this is one of the charms of Ubud. (Just watch out for uncovered sections of sidewalks, and please do your best to avoid stepping on the offerings the Balinese leave at the entrances to their family compounds and businesses!)
If you’re here for longer and wish to do some independent island exploration, bicycles are available for rent. Make sure you get a good helmet … roads are narrow, often full of pot holes, dogs are everywhere, and the Balinese like to drive like stock car racers! While driving, repeat this mantra: “Slow and Go, Slow and Go … Om.” There are plenty of drivers ready and willing to take you anywhere. Walking is still the best choices for you.
If you visit between November and April a rain poncho or umbrella will come in handy, and both can be purchased inexpensively here. As this time is Bali’s summer, the rains tend to be warm and humid, but a light jacket can be useful for evenings. May through October is typically dry season and winter. Comfortable sandals are a must, and should be easy to take off as most Balinese do not wear shoes indoors. Same day laundry service is inexpensive and plentiful, so you’re better off to pack light. Don’t forget your bathing trunks!
Anytime you go into a temple for a ceremony or tourist attraction you MUST wear a long sleeve shirt, pants or preferably sarong that cover your knees. Women and men have separate requirements.
It is recommended that you visit your GP, personal physician or a travel health clinic 4 to 8 weeks before your departure to Indonesia. Recommended vaccinations often include hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus and polio. Bali is not a high-risk area for malaria and the tablets can be considered controversial, we recommend that you do some research and make your own decision on this. Dengue fever is another mosquito borne illness to be made aware of.
You might want to bring a prescription of Keflex, or another type of oral antibiotic that can help with stomach ailments. Even though you will be eating in good restaurants, there is always a chance that you can get Bali Belly – a mild dysentery that passes in a few days.
You will probably want to! If you would like to stay more than 30 days, you can apply for a 60-day tourist visa at the Consulate of Indonesia closest to you. You will likely have to show proof of a ticket to leave the country.
Yes, a visa is required for Indonesia. A visa-upon-arrival system is in place for most countries including Australia, Canada, US & EU citizens. When you arrive at the airport in Denpasar you will enter the Visa-on-arrival line, where you will be asked for U$25.00 and your passport will be stamped for 30 days from the date of arrival. Upon leaving, a 150,000 rupiah departure tax will be assessed.
N.B. – If your passport is due to expire within 6 months, we advise you renew. On occasion, Indonesia has not allowed tourists into the country, and your airline might not allow you on the plane.
