We pick you up and get you to our starting hotel in Luang Prabang – a charming town that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tonight we kick the tour off with a welcome dinner and explore some of the local nightlife with the group.
Those who enjoy an early morning have the option to wake up at sunrise to watch the Laos tradition of Sai Bat (morning alms), where the devoted offer food to a procession of monks. After a bite to eat we spend a few hours at a rice farm, experiencing the life of a rice farmer and learning all about Asia’s greatest food staple. We walk up to the pagoda on Mt. Phousi for panoramic views of the sunset before enjoying the city’s nightlife on our last night in Luang Prabang.
We start the day by exploring a few of the caves in the area. After a brief stop for tubing inside Tham Nam water cave, we head to Nam Song river where we start our river tubing adventure. We spend a few hours floating down the river and retracing the backpacker tubing route that put Vang Vieng on the map!
After a little lie in, we are bound for Vientiane – the capital and largest city in Laos. Tonight we explore one of the local beer shops. This is a fun, local style of drinking which usually involves music, great times, and lots of beer! What better way to kick off your night in the capital of Laos then with great company and a few beers!
We hit the city and check out a few landmarks around Vientiane. We start by visiting a Buddha Park, Patuxai (Vientiane’s own Arc de Triomphe) and one of Laos most famous Buddhist temples – Pha That Luang. Sadly, after the city tour finishes it is time to say goodbye to those only doing 7 days. For those continuing on the full 11 day tour, we have a free afternoon to do what you like until we catch a night bus south to Pakse this evening.
We get into Pakse approximately 8 AM. After grabbing some breakfast we head out for amazing day exploring waterfalls and zip lining. We visit several waterfalls with chances to swim and have an included BBQ lunch at Tad Yuang falls. While at Tad Fane you have the opportunity to try a once-in-a-lifetime zipline ride over the falls (extra cost). At sunset we head back and stop at a mountain-top Buddha for unforgettable sunset views.
We complete our journey in Laos by heading south for 4000 Islands. On the way we stop at the magnificent Vat Phou, an impressive Angkor style temple that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After exploring Vat Phou we continue our journey south and stop at Khone Phapheng, the largest waterfall by volume in Southeast Asia. From there it’s just a short ferry across to the island of Don Det, the backpacker hub of 4000 Islands.
It’s time to explore 4000 islands, and there is no better way than by kayak! During the kayak adventure we stop and cycle across Don Det, through rice fields to Liphi falls. We jump back in our kayak and go to find the Irrawaddy dolphins – a unique Beluga-like dolphin found here. We return back to the hotel and head out for our farewell dinner and one last night to celebrate the awesome trip.
Today the tour has come to an end and unfortunately we have say our goodbyes. Checkout is at 11 AM, and whether you are continuing south into Cambodia or back north to Pakse, we are here to help you organize it.

Everyone spends differently so it’s hard for us to give an exact amount but we usually recommend around £150 – £250 per week, which is sufficient for you to have an epic time. All your activities, transport and accommodation is covered by us so you just need to worry about what your food, drink and shopping which is usually pretty cheap in Asia. Please note we can not be held responsible if you start popping bottles of champagne on the first night and run out of money ! 😉

For most of our destinations, you don’t need any specific vaccinations however its always good to check with your doctor to make sure you have an up to date tetanus jab. We also recommend paying a visit to a travel doctor, as they will have all the up-to-date info.
There are ATMs readily available in all of our destinations so we would recommend getting a travel card with good rates and withdrawing cash locally rather than carrying big amounts with you. If you are going to bring cash you would get a better rate if you exchanged in Asia so bring your home currency with you.
