Itinerary

Day 1: Nadi to Mango Bay including Nadi town markets, Natadola Beach for 2-3 hours, Malomalo Village and sand boarding! Day 2: Mango Bay to Uprising Beach Resort including the Uprising rainforest trek (optional) and spend the afternoon on Uprising Beach Day 3: Uprising Beach to Volivoli Beach including Suva city tour, kava ceremony at Nasautoka Village, bilibili rafting and a school visit (not on school holidays). Arriving at Volivoli for sunset. Day 4: Volivoli Beach to Nadi, depart late morning which gives you time to relax or go diving (not included at Volivoli but can be done) before going to Ba Town for a traditional Indo-Fijian curry and finish the day at the Sabeto Mud & Hot Pools. Day 5: This morning you head for Mantaray Island Resort and arrive in time for lunch and to settle in. Spend the afternoon at the dive shop preparing gear for your two days of diving ahead! Day 6: Today is the first of your two open water dives. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or snorkeling on the amazing coral reefs surrounding the resort. Day 7: More dives! Do the same as yesterday but check out some more sites and activities. If Manta Rays are in season (May – Sep) then you should definitely do a snorkeling trips with these giants of the sea! WHAT'S INCLUDED IN MY FIJI PASSES?
Depending on whether you’ve purchased a ‘Transport Only’ or ‘Accommodation Inclusive’ pass then your accommodation may or may be included! I’m sure you can work that one out! Transport on our modern air-conditioned buses, services of your Driver and Guide including commentary and safety info, accommodation bookings (where needed), optional paid activities bookings, and included activities everyday. Trips include visiting heaps of places that would cost you extra if you travelled alone or on a normal bus service. For those who have purchased a trip which goes to the outer islands then all marine transport is included. Meals are included where mentioned in the itinerary otherwise all Feejee Experience resorts have great value restaurants.
WHAT ACCOMMODATION DO YOU RECOMMEND?
Shared dorm option is for those travellers who are travelling alone and want comfortable budget accommodation. Private double / twin option is for friends or couples who want a private room. We don’t advertise a single traveller private room however we can provide you with a quote. Just drop us an email.
HOW DO I BOOK OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES?
Like accommodation this can all be booked through your Guide. Your pass entitles you to some fantastic activity discounts along the way. So, to take advantage of those great freebies and discounts; be sure to ask your Guide. We recommend those wanting to shark dive or take a scuba diving course, book in advance. Drop us an email and we’ll make it happen for you.
HOW DO I GET TO THE OUTER ISLANDS?
For Beachcomber and Mantaray Islands, the transport is provided by the Yasawa Flyer. There is no Guide on the trip from Nadi to the islands however when you arrive the staff are there to give you island fever!! The vessel departs and returns daily. For Robinson Crusoe Island there is a land transfer provided by TTF and then a short 20 minute boat ride in the resorts own boat.
HOW DO I BEGIN MY TRAVELS?
When you buy your pass(es), you’re given the option of selecting a start date, or leaving the pass open dated. If you have an open dated pass then you’ll need to contact us once you know what day you want to start your Fiji Experience. Some passes have fixed starting points whereas others allow you to start from anywhere along the route. See the passes page for these full details and to compare pass options.
CAN I CHANGE MY DEPARTURE DATES?
Absolutely! If you could give us as much notice as possible that would be great. Just contact us and let us know your plans.
WHAT IS “Hop-on, Hop-Off” & WHERE CAN I GET OFF?
This applies to the Transport only passes of – Hula Loop & Big Kahuna. Our hop-on, hop-off system allows you to get off our route wherever you like for as long as you like. We encourage you to jump off the bus and explore the Fiji Islands in more detail. So if you’ve found somewhere you like that look of, or know you want to spend extra time doing an activity, or volunteer position, make the most of it. If you’re not sure where to get off, talk to your Driver or Guide for some expert professional advice.
HOW DO I GET BACK ON AGAIN?
When you’re ready to get back on, whether it’s two days later or the next month, just give us a call and we’ll arrange a seat for you on the next coach. Try to give us at least 24 hours notice, although again the more notice you can give us the better. Check out our timetable to see days of departure and departure times from each location.
HOW LONG CAN I TRAVEL FOR?
Once you’ve purchased your pass you have 12 months to begin actually travelling on it and then once you start your Feejee trip pass you have 12 months to complete it. If you’ve got the time you should definitely take it. Each sector of each pass can only be travelled once. However, see your Guide for repeat trip discounts

Malamala Village… After spending the afternoon on the world famous Natadola Beach your Guide will take you into your first Fijian village and introduce you to the Fijian customs and village way of life.
Sand Boarding Down the Sigatoka Sand Dunes After a cultural insight it’s time to get the adrenalin pumping with some sand boarding down the famous and historical Sigatoka sand dunes located on the spectacular Coral Coast!
Rainforest Trek Rated the best activity by over 80% of passengers, the trek through the Namosi Highlands is loads of fun and will let you be at one with the Fijian jungle! Bilibili Rafting After a few bowls of kava at Nasautoka Village it’s down into the Wanibuka River for bilibili rafting, the traditional Fijian style raft, with the locals and the regular bilibili raft races!

Surf lessons on a remote paradise island!

An amazing surfing experience. The surf resort could not be located any close to the waves. No long boat rides to cut into your surf time! A 5 minute boat ride will have you surfing her on the reedfs. It’s a surfers dream come true.
Crowds are non-existent, the water is warm and there are lefts and rights. There are 5 awesome surf breaks located close to the beach ranging from world-class barrels to playful learner waves located directly out front of the resort. Included are 4 days of surf lessons a week, but you will spend more time in the water as free board hire is included!

The best surf season is October – May when the winds are up from the north. But year round you can come here to surf.
This programme is suitable for beginners, intermediates and serious surfers!

Arrival day: Today is to relax from your Travel. the friendly staff will be waiting for you. After a warm welcome you check in. You will immediately feel the relaxed atmosphere and the warmth of the sun and the amazing people here.

You will have 4 times a week surflessons of 2 hours each. After your surflessons you can use a board and get surfing and practising as much as you like.

Easily bored? There are lots of activities you can book locally or drop us an email and we help you arrange it. PLUS  all meals are included, so you do not have to walk around to find a restaurant, you wont have to do food shopping and you don’t have to cook! Just chill!

 

Accommodation

Stunning Resort

You will be staying beach front at a super friendly Beach Eco Resort. Our resort has its own beach and gives guests a one-of-a-kind cultural and adventure experience in a beautiful and remote location. You will be accommodated in the Treetop Dorm which has a front deck within a few meters from the high tide and you will be able to sit and watch the sun go down. It’s set in a tropical rainforest with stunning 360 degree vistas of the ocean and surrounding area. (Accommodation upgrade to triple dorm, or double or single is possible, just ask for details)

The Sand Bar is the heart of the resort and is furnished with comfy furniture and a white sandy floor. It is absolutely beach front and has the benefit of being open to the cooling ocean breezes. The staff are fantastic, always ready for some fun and nothing is too much trouble.

In the sandbar people come to eat, mingle and relax. It’s here you will also find a tour desk to help you plan your trips, a restaurant, and a café serving snack foods and licensed bar.

All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are included in the programme and they are basic but delicious. The chefs use quality local products and meals draw inspiration from our on-site organic garden and the fish we catch ourselves.

So sit back and relax there’s no cooking to do here – Most dietary requirements can be catered for – just let us know at your time of booking.

How do I get to Qamea Island
There are 2 options: Flying or sailing. We are happy to arrange your domestic travel and if necessary arrange for your layover hotel in Nadi or Suva.
Do I need to stay in Nadi or Suva before I fly out to Taveuni?
Usually yes unless you arrive early morning. We are happy to assist you with booking accommodation for your stopover
Transfers to and from the island what time can I leave?
There is a boat each day and we coordinate departures with the tides and guest needs.
What is the best time to surf?
The best time to surf is between October and May.
What are the waves like?

For more advanced and intermediate surfers the Reef offers a range of waves (see website for descriptions). For an amateur surfer or a learner there is a small break right out front of the resort. We have board hire and surf lessons available so if you have ever wanted to learn to surf now is your chance![/toggle

Thailand

Starting on the exciting Xtreme Thailand Experience you have four weeks in various different locations in Thailand. Two weeks soaking up the gorgeous tropical beaches of Koh Tao and doing some incredible activities. Choose between Muay Thai, yoga, conservation, Crossfit or get a taste of scuba-diving with the discover SCUBA course. You can add on an open water course if you wish and let’s face it with the great diving destinations on this itinerary it would the wrong not too! All of your accommodation and two weeks with food included.

Bali, Indonesia

Then onto Indonesia, four weeks in Bali with loads of activities included and all of your meals (meals not included in the final week) and accommodation. Explore ancient temples, paradise island beaches and great nightlife in this Indonesian tropical paradise.

Australia

Then we head to Australia. Your first week we will be a busy one meeting loads of new mates as you join our Sydney connection group. You then have plenty of time to explore the East coast on a hop on hop off bus pass as everything from here on out is flexible on time. If you want to work in Australia on a working holiday Visa no problem. You will travel from Sydney to Cairns (the perfect location to dive the Great Barrier Reef) before flying on to New Zealand.

New Zealand

Arriving in Auckland you have2 nights in a great hostel, and a Funky Chicken Kiwi Experience pass giving you plenty of time to explore both islands, not before you have completed the awesome Queenstown Adrenaline Overload, where you can do some Xtreme activities and set your Facebook profile pictures for life!

Fiji

The actual programme costs £4500 and we would estimate of flight would be about £2000.

There is one month of activities and accommodation included in Thailand, one month in Bali, one week of accommodation and activities in Australia and a hop on hop off pass through the East coast, another hop on hop off pass in  New Zealand plus just under one week of activities and accommodation in Queenstown (New Zealand).

Finally 10 days of accommodation and transport in Fiji (3 islands) many meals included in Fiji as well.

So the only bit that will cost extra is Australia and New Zealand and these are both locations where a working holiday Visa as possible and due to the flexible nature of the trip it means you can work in these locations to help fund your travels.

We would recommend having at least £3000 in the bank for spending money to get the most out of it but that really depends on your own personal budgeting and spending habits.

Bangkok can be a great place to be if you know where to go, how to get there, what to eat, where you are sleeping etc. It can be a bit overwhelming for first timers though, especially if you’re arriving from a long haul flight. Let us have everything sorted for you when you begin your South East Asian adventure!

On arrival at Bangkok airport, you will be met by the transfer company representative (your name will be on a sign) then taken to your accommodation near the Stray Bangkok Shop and famous Khao San Road (hotel check-in time is 2pm). You’ve only got one night in Bangkok, so get out and explore the colourful and intense nightlife! Your trip will start on the Saturday or the Tuesday so arrive one day earlier. The bus leaves at 8am.

Arrival pack in Sydney

Is the flight included?

The cost of your airline travel is not included in the trip, we can put you in touch with our preferred round the world flight partners who can help with booking the necessary flights to complete the trip.

What if I want to stay in one place for longer?

All passes are flexible and valid for 6 months to a year. We can give you suggestions on travel times. If you wish to add activities like the inca trail in Peru, you do need to book that well upfront. Just ask and we will help!

Become a Journalist & Travel

On this program you can either undertake the diploma only and use it to boost your qualifications whilst you undertake any of our gap year programs, or you can involve yourself On our Xtreme journalism assignments. Set in 2 locations where you can study and learn more about journalism.

For the assignments, you can choose either Thailand, or Mexico and you have four weeks to complete the course and we throw in some adventure activities along the way. What they are depends on the time of year, we do not keep it set so we can react to any newsworthy stories or events.

The course involves quite a bit of coursework, so where better to undertake some investigative journalism, or get inspired than abroad by paradise beaches.

You have full backup and support of our UK-based tutors, who have considerable experience in the industry. You can actually study anywhere as long as you have an Internet connection and a laptop.

Once you have completed the course and have written your final piece we will assist you in sending this out to our media houses who may or may not pick up on the story. If you do get published you will receive 60 percent of your royalty fees which could be enough to cover the cost of the entire course.

What you report on is up to you, but you will have the full back up and support and guidance of professional journalists (including the head mentor on the programme – Beci Wood with 10 years experience on staff at the UK´s biggest newspaper).

Not only is journalism and exciting career, it’s something you can take with you to your next stage after travelling, whether that be a part-time job at University, or something you do on the side or launch phone into as a career.

THAILAND OPTION INCLUDES WORK EXPERIENCE

On the Thailand option we have a completely unique and very exciting work experience attachment to this program.  You will work in a genuine media Company that produces monthly magazines all over Asia.  Working from their offices in Phuket, you will put your newfound skills to use: tasked With writing articles and uncovering stories as a reporter.  You will go out develop and write stories and make a valued contribution to the magazine and online websites. Working under the CEO and his media team this is a genuinely unique opportunity to gain work experience and do a really fun job which will build your resume and give you an insight into an exciting industry as you travel.

The company is called think media and is American run running various different franchises of popular magazines, what’s on guides and delivers local news and features in and around Phuket.

The work experience option can either last two weeks or four weeks, depending on your preference and includes all accommodation.

ACCOMMODATION

In Mexico you will stay in Playa del Carmen, a short walk from the beach at our base the Bendito Rancho. This is based on a dormitory (shared accommodation).

In Thailand you will stay in Phuket where you will also be involved in a work experience module with think media. You will stay on a bungalow either your own or shared with one other person the same sex.  The bungalow is located close to the officers.
