Many of our Thailand gap year programmes are on Koh Tao and for a good reason. This little jewel in the Golf of Thailand is hard to find on the world map, but is big in backpackers land!
After arrival in Bangkok you get on the train or bus or take a plain and before you know it you are on the Lomprayah catamaran on your way to Tropical paradise to spend a great part of your gap year.
Many people that take a gap year are a bit scared that they will be alone, which (they discover after a day or two) is ridiculous. Especially when you travel to Thailand! There are so many solo travellers here... and they are all wanting to make friends.
The benefits of a small place like Koh Tao are that you know your way around very quickly. It helps that our rep will show you around the island, which is a great start. She shows you the atm, the best bars, the best Thai restaurant (her sisters!!), the cinema, the nicest beach, the dive school, the supermarket.. Yeah Koh Tao is a small place but it has it all!

Ali the pancake man is legendary on Koh Tao. He is the man that makes you very happy at 2 or even 4 at night. After another long hard party on the beach where you met lots of new other travellers and probably drunk a bucket and kissed a girl or boy or two, you find Ali the pancake man on your way back to the resort where you stay during your Thailand gap year.
For just 1 or 2 pounds he makes you the nicest pancake. Banana chocolate, tuna and cheese are just two of our favourites. Very conveniently Ali is located next to the 7eleven, which is open 24 hours a day. So you can get your 1,5 liter of water for the night here too! Sleep well! |

There are many different activities you can do on Koh Tao. The adventure day, climbing course, Muay Thai training, Yoga, Freediving and of course... diving and diving and diving!
And for good reason, diving in Thailand is great and diving in Koh Tao is awesome. Not just because of the warm water, the wale sharks and turtles but also because it is such a great place to be and with the Xtreme Gap Thailand Divemaster programme you can make unlimited dives, and after certification you have a good change to find a job! Or become an underwater filmmaker... not bad!
