Day 1: Arrive to the Land of Smiles!
You´re getting closer and closer to the greatest adventure of your life. Just 10 minutes from landing in Bangkok airport, you start to feel the butterflies in your stomach. A new friend is waiting for you on the other side, ready to take you through the crazy streets of Bangkok to your accommodation and a group of fellow travellers who will soon become close friends. Once you´ve taken some time to relax and unwind in the guesthouse after your flight, you´ll head out for dinner and drinks with your new friends and travel buddies on the iconic Khao San Road.
Welcome to the first day of your amazing Thai adventure! It only gets better from here!
Day 2: Exploring the In´s and Out´s of Bangkok
Bangkok is known as the ´Venice of the East´, so what better way to explore the city than taking to the rivers. Cruising along the Chao Phraya River, you´ll experience one of the most epic skylines in Asia, seeing how the modern metropolis has merged with the ancient temples to create one of the most fascinating cities in the world.
After the river cruise, you´ll visit two of the most important temples in Thailand, where you´ll get your first experience of the beauty and intrigue of Thai history and culture. Next, we´ll jump on a Tuk Tuk for a whirlwind ride through the city back to Khao San Road. If you´ve never been on a Tuk Tuk before, you´ll be laughing (and possibly screaming) all the way, as it swerves and dodges all sorts of traffic and obstacles imaginable. Who knew driving could be so adventurous!
Finish the day with an amazing lunch and dinner in one of the best eating spots in Bangkok, Khao San Road; cheap, authentic and delicious!
Day 3: Preparing to head South
Your final day in Bangkok sees you getting ready to head to the tropical south of the country. After checking out of your accommodation, you´ll have an opportunity to relax with a traditional Thai Massage in a local spa. This should keep you sufficiently chilled out during your overnight train journey to the south of the country. You´ll probably be so relaxed that you´ll fall asleep on the train. If not, make sure to check out the awesome views of the Thai countryside.
Don´t worry though, as you´ll have plenty of time to pick up some souvenirs and do a little shopping in the awesome Khao San Road before you depart from Bangkok.
Day 4: Visiting Paradise in Khao Sok National Park
Prepare to be in awe of the beauty of Khao Sok National Park. Arriving bright and early at 7am, after the overnight train, you´ll be taken direct to the stunning park. Your accommodation here just so happens to be floating on the Cheow Larn Lake. Yep, you read correctly! These cute wooden bungalows are situated on a beautiful turquoise lake, surrounded by mountains covered in lush evergreen rainforest. You can even sit right outside your bungalow door, cooling down by dangling your feet in the lake!
Swimming, kayaking, tubing, bamboo rafting and cave exploring are just some of the awesome adrenaline-pumping activities that can be enjoyed in the park, while surrounded by some of the most gorgeous scenery you´ll ever see. We´re sure you´ll never want to leave your temporary home floating on the lake. However, Thai beaches are waiting:and that´s a pretty good excuse to keep moving!
Day 5: Beaches, Waves and Cocktails
Today we leave Khao Sok National Park via ferry to Koh Phangan, one of the most iconic and beautiful areas in Thailand. You´ll spend the day on Bottle Beach, a postcard-perfect beach with bright white sand and turquoise blue water, often regarded as one of the best beaches in Thailand!
Swim, sunbathe, relax or snorkel during the day, while in the evening we´ll prepare an awesome private beach party for you and your travel buddies. Cocktails, a campfire, lanterns and music will make this evening one of the most memorable during your travels in Thailand.
After a few drinks and dances around the campfire, you won´t have very far to go for a good nights sleep. In fact, you´ll still be able to hear the sounds of the ocean as you stay in your own private beach bungalow just a few metres from the waves. Not a bad way to spend a day!
DAY 6: MUAY THAI TRAINING LESSON
Wake up in paradise and step out onto the soft sand of Bottle Beach. Today, you can spend the morning sleeping, swimming, getting your tan on, or taking selfies with the world´s best backdrop!
The afternoon is reserved for your Muay Thai boxing experience! Hopping in a taxi boat, we´ll head towards the fishing town of Chaloklum, where you´ll get picked up by open air taxi and travel back through the heart of Phangan to Haad Rinn. It is here where you will try your hand at a bit of Thai boxing. Over the course of an hour your will learn about the sport of Muay Thai, techniques of the national sport and experience a training session with a local fighter. After building up a sweat we check into our accommodation in Haad Rinn just in time for a shower and some sunset drinks in one of our favourite beach bars.
DAY 7: EXPLORING THE PHANGAN ISLANDS
Koh Phangan is one of the best snorkelling and diving spots in the world, and at 11am you´ll be on your way there to explore the water and island for the day. From bathing in a waterfall like a boss, to enjoying lunch on the beach and watching the sunset from the boat, your day in Koh Phangan will definitely be one for the scrapbook!
In the evening, back at the resort we´ll enjoy a dinner courtesy of the tour organizers. Of course no event is finished without some celebratory drinks to commemorate your first amazing week in paradise! On the beach, you´ll party, enjoy a famous Thai bucket or two, and dance the night away, preferably in your bare feet!
DAY 8-12: LIVING IT UP ON KOH TAO
The next four days will be spent on the beautiful Koh Tao Island just north of Koh Phangan. Here is where you can tailor make your adventure by adding in some optional activities.
You will be staying on the gorgeous Sairee beach where you can relax into laid-back island life and choose how you spend each day. If you want to experience the best adrenaline-pumping adventure, you can add in additional activities (at an extra cost) like scuba diving, rock climbing, abseiling, water skiing, wake boarding and free diving. You do not have to pre-book. Decide what you want to do when you arrive. The included activity during the four days will be a boat trip to Koh Nangyuan, one of the most picturesque spots in the world where you can take in the surroundings, top up the tan and even enjoy a spot of snorkelling.
This is Koh Tao:
Day 12-15: Heading West
You´ve come to the end of your stay on Koh Tao, but don´t worry; there are lots more beautiful beaches and islands waiting to be explored in Thailand. One of those beaches is Railay on the west coast of Thailand; one of the most remarkably beautiful beaches on earth.
Although Railay is on the mainland, it is only accessible by boat so you´ll still feel like you´re on a remote tropical island, surrounded by scenery that looks like it´s been taken straight from a postcard.
Here you can relax, play, drink, eat and enjoy your surroundings, in between more intensive activities such as snorkelling, sea kayaking and rock climbing. Make sure to climb up to the lagoon viewpoint for some of the most fantastic views in the country.
The nightlife in Railay is always buzzing, with fire shows a regular fixture of the nightly entertainment around the many bars and restaurants.
Day 15-17: Island Bliss
We´re sure you´ve heard about your next location; the absolutely beautiful Maya Bay; so good it even stole the limelight from Leonardo DiCaprio in the film The Beach!
You´ll get to spend two glorious days on Phi Phi Island, taking a sunset boat trip around the other islands including Maya Bay, Monkey Island and the Viking Caves. Free lunch will be served on the boat before continuing on for more snorkelling and swimming back in the emerald waters of Phi Phi Island.
In the evenings, hang out with the group, enjoy some drinks and the nightlife, or do some amazing night swimming among the ´glow in the dark´ plankton.
Day 17-18: Final Days in the Land of Smiles
In the morning, we take a trip to Thailand´s largest island; Phuket. Phuket is as you would expect of any of the Thai islands; beautiful and laid-back with lots of things to do. It´s the perfect place to spend your final night in Thailand before leaving the next day for home, or the next part of your journey.
Party all night in Patong town, the party capital of Phuket, experiencing the nightlife through amazing Party Tuk Tuks; the ultimate crazy way to end your epic 18-day trip through the most beautiful country on earth!
On day 18, we´ll help you organize everything you need to make it back to Bangkok for homeward bound flights, or whether you´re continuing your journey through Thailand and Southeast Asia.

If you have already arrived in Bangkok prior to your start date, then we will put you in touch and your Group Leader will arrange to meet you at the guesthouse when you arrive.
It differs from city to city but very rarely drops below 25 degrees Celsius. Bangkok is always around 35c and tends to have the odd down pour. Do not pay attention to the iphone weather app as it will always say thunderstorms in Bangkok. Not the case! On the islands it is less humid and averages around 33c all year round. They do have a brief rain season between October and November, however it usually only rains for about an hour or two with sunshine for the rest of the day. Check out our country info page for more info.
Yes. The media has a tendency to report only the very worst news, which means that we can get quite a negative impression of a country and quite often we don’t hear anything about the very friendly, helpful people and extraordinary cultures in these amazing destinations.
Nearly 95% of Thailand’s population is Buddhist of the Theravada school, though Buddhism in this country has become integrated with folk beliefs such as ancestor worship as well as Chinese religions from the large Thai-Chinese population. Buddhist temples in Thailand are characterized by tall golden stupas, and the Buddhist architecture of Thailand is similar to that in other Southeast Asian countries, particularly Cambodia and Laos, with which Thailand shares cultural and historical heritage.
You will automatically be granted a 28 day tourist visa on entry to Thailand if you are from one of the countries on the exemption list (see our Visa page). If you are considering staying in Thailand for longer then you may need to arrange your own visa. Visit the Visa Info page on our website to find out all you need to know.
Book your flights to land on your start date if you can. Do not book your flights until you have booked with us and received a confirmation invoice. Generally people will arrive on that date or one or two days before hand. If you land much before or are already in Thailand just let us know and we will help you arrange a transfer and to meet at our accommodation.

We will either pick you up from the airport or meet you at the hostel and introduce you to the crew. You’ll have the day to chill and get settled or explore the city get to know the rest of the group in the evening over a few drinks in the bar and get ready to jump on the bus the following day to begin the adventure.
DAY 2-3 – SIHANOUKVILLE
The first stop on the tour is Sihanoukville, a land of of beaches, islands and parties. In Sihanoukville we stay in a nice hotel (with a pool) near the main beach for two nights, hit the beach bars for one or two cocktails by evening (they have 50cent beers!), and start the tour with a bang joining a backpacker booze cruise around the islands. We then hop over to the tropical island paradise of Koh Rong Samloem on day four for the next two nights.
DAY 4-5 – KOH RONG SAMLOEM
On the amazingly beautiful & secluded island of Koh Rong Samloem we stay at the newest Mad Monkey Hostel right on the beach. Here we spend two days as true beach bums, you can choose to chill on the luscious white sand, sip cocktails at the bar or soak up the rays! Whilst on Koh Rong Samloem we’ll also have a special beach bbq and fire show night on us and take a boat cruise around the island to hit up some awesome snorkelling spots, try some fishing and kick back in the crystal clear turquoise waters!

It depends how long you are travelling for or if you are moving onto another country after but you will not need to pack much for South East Asia. The climate will stay the same all year round which will be in the mid 30´s so light clothing will be best. It will also help if you use a backpack rather than a suitcase as it will be more comfortable for you to travel around with. But if you do only have a suitcase, do not spend your money on an expensive backpack, a suitcase or sports bag will do.
First of all its your responsibility to get the correct visa, but as it stands at the moment (2016) for UK and NL travellers, you can get a Cambodian visa either online or at the border really easily. If you get one in Khao San Road in Bangkok, where they offer to arrange a visa for you, you risk giving your passport to a stranger. You CAN go to the Cambodian embassy in Bangkok, but would be a waste of time and money. Online or at the border is easiest .
We leave most of meal choice to you, but we do take you to some amazing restaurants (both traditional and modern) so there is always something for everyone. Please note you will have to buy all your other meals, snacks, water etc., so do budget for this when planning your trip!

Week 3 Xtreme Option Week
You pick your option at the Xtreme Activity week.
As its your trip, and we understand not everyone is the same you can pick your option. What ever suits you best let us know and we arrange it for you. You can choose between the options below (its all pretty amazing!)
The beginner kite surfing option includes a full learn to kite surf course consisting of several stages.
The course lasts approximately 12 hours covering the following
Learning to fly the kite, equipment harness and safety features (approximately 3 hours)
Body dragging. Prior to being able to stand up on the board it’s important to understand how to harness and control the power from the kite. Body dragging is undertaken in the water where you will use the kite to pull yourself over the waves at speed! (Approximately 3 hours)
Water start. Once you have mastered harnessing the power from the Kite you are ready to get up out of the water on the board. This is called water start you will have approximately 3 hours of instruction.
Different people progress at different speeds depending on how quickly you are able to master the different sections. You have 12 hours in total of instruction which can be completed at any time during the three weeks you are there. As kite surfing is wind dependent we will not leave this all until the last week.
Should there not be favourable kite surfing conditions and you are unable to complete any of your time allotted you have the option to do an alternative activity ( stand-up paddle – yoga – CrossFit – extra Spanish) but there will be no refunds on any time not used. We believe you will have plenty of opportunity to complete your training however.
Xtreme Extra Support
We will also provide you access to extracurricular training to help further assist your learning. You will have access to the progression kite surf training DVD and a training kite to be able to practice your kite surfing and kite flying prior to starting your lessons. The more practice you have with kite flying the quicker you will learn and master the basics. Approximately 80% of kite surfing in the beginning is getting to grips with flying the kite. It’s much like driving, once you know how to actually drive the car it becomes second nature. The same as with kiting. Prior to worrying about wind direction and how to control the board, you need to know how to fly the kite. With the kite surf options you will have access to the trainer kite and you can use it as and when you like. This will be unsupervised and at your own risk.
There is no sugarcoating it kite surfing is an expensive activity to learn, but once you have the instruction under your belt and have your own equipment you can have limitless fun at zero cost. By utilising a trainer kite you can make the most of your instructions time and develop at a much quicker pace.
Your open water course is a ticket to complete underwater freedom. Accredited with PADI you can complete this 2 1/2 day course which includes four dives in the ocean. You will be taken through the theory and safety aspects of diving through modular theory and practical-based learning. Prior to starting you will be required to undertake a medical.
The PADI open water course qualifies you to dive to 18 m. Should you wish you can also complete your advanced open water taking you down to 30 m and go really extreme with the bull shark dive! This course includes 4 boat dives!
Free diving is about getting to grips with what you are really capable of underwater. It is about the complete freedom and flexibility Of being able to explore the underwater world without limits. Why is it called free diving? Because you are free, normal diving you are constrained by nitrogen in your bloodstream, with free diving you can change your depth as fast as you like. This is particularly awesome in Playa del Carmen due to the large whale shark population, and as they are surface feeders they tend to dive and rise very fast meaning you cannot keep up with them with scuba tanks. Do the free diving course, bring underwater camera and you will be sure to have the most amazing experiences. 2.5 day beginner freediving course.
CrossFit is taking the world by storm. Widely regarded as one of the most effective ways of building fitness fast. It works on functional movements in a supportive environment. CrossFit boxes are popping up everywhere for good reason. In Playa del Carmen we have connections with a fantastic CrossFit box which will help you get that perfect beach body to show off on the white Sands and turquoise seas. The CrossFit option gives you one weeks box access.
One of our cool options If you want something a little more sedate try yoga. Five sessions in the final week. The Yoga sessions are at the most famous gym in Playa, around the corner from the Hostel. We include 5 sessions, time tables change from time to time, so check with our rep when in Playa del Carmen.
Living in a Caribbean paradise naturally you want to be by the beach. Don’t worry we have you covered. 5 min from the beach, you will find the Xtreme Gap Year base in Mexico. It’s a really social hostel, with lots going on. Every night people are encouraged to get together and do fun activities. If you want to take advantage of Playa Carmen’s amazing nightlife, it’s on your doorstep. But there are plenty of chill out areas as well. You can get involved as much as you like or relax after a busy day’s activities totally up to you.
The rooms have private bathrooms and air conditioning! All guests have use of a big terrace where they can relax or just share travel tips with other guests. Its located in a great neighbourhood, everything is round the corner, oh and there is free WiFi!
We include breakfast for you. Breakfast is a buffet style and includes – coffee, tea, bread, butter, 4 types of jam, 2 types of cereal, milk and 2 types of fruits, so good start of the day!
Its always a good time to come to Playa. Playa Del Carmen has a subtropical climate, so its weather ranges from warm to hot for most of the year. The average temperature over the year is about 27 ºC and the humidity is usually very high. The sea is almost always warm enough for a swim. Hurricane season is between August and October, with the peak activity generally being in early to mid September. But when we were there during this period…there was no hurricane at all, so do not let this stop you!
Yes there is! You can use the kitchen at the accommodation to prepare your meals. also in walking distance is a massive super market with beautiful food! So if you like preparing your own meals and you want to keep the costs down, this is a perfect option.

You may be wondering why Oktoberfest is held in such high regard by your previously well-travelled friends. “What’s the big deal?” You say, “it’s just old fat drunk men singing unintelligible songs on tables and hugging each other.” Sounds like your best nightmare, or your worst high school sleepover, right? To you I contend that it is both, and much more, and also not quite that.
No camaraderie is as strong and breaks as many barriers as that of beer, that destroys whatever divides a drunken German man from singing with a proud androgynous teenage adult. Welcome to the rainbow of the human condition, amplified by ridiculous rides, slurring, good mateship and, I really just can’t emphasise this enough, singing on tables with beers while thousands watch you in good spirits. Lo, this be the good times.
The Book Of Oktoberfest a little history…
In the beginning, there was a wedding. And lo, this wedding, it was between Prince Ludwig and Princess Theresa. And they made a festival to celebrate and the festival happened in Theresa´s Field. And lo, did they bang in the field. Probably. And then, so it was. And on the next day there was an agricultural fair and they added some fair rides and beer stands: And lo, did Ludwig say, let there be beer and there was beer. And they said “lo damn. There be a lot of beer. And they looked upon their work and they saw that it was good, and it was good. And lo, Ludwig sayeth, “Let this henceforth be the Oktoberfest , though it´s day not be in Oktober and they were in September but they had drunk more than a few good German beers. “And let it be the party where the fat old drunk men are lo, the coolest guys in the party. And then they brought in some more beer tents: And lo, there be much more beer now. And on the seventh day they rested because they were pretty hungover. And now it´s the biggest festival in the world and more than 6 million people go. Lo, goddamn.

Ouzo. It ´s a bastard. Perhaps the only drink that crystallises in your stomach, so the next day when you go to hydrate you get pissed again. That pretty much sums up the week ahead of you on the Xtreme Greek islands party experience. Well it’s not all plate smashing and drinking we throw in some extreme Quad safaris, boat trips and stay at a beautiful (if a little pink) resort as well. Should just about match your tan by the time you leave. A weeks pretty much all-inclusive less than £400? Bargain.

Located in Western Corfu, you can spend one or two weeks partying with people from all over the world whilst having an amazing Greek holiday. Half-board, so breakfast and dinner included, all you have to worry about is sunburn and hangovers!
We have double, triple and shared accommodation in mini dorms (sleeps up to 5 people) depending on whether you are solo traveller, coming with friends or putting together a group (contact us if you’re planning on bringing friends but multiple booking discounts).
Each room has unrivalled sea views, balconies from which to enjoy an incredible sunset, and you are less than 5 min from the beach. There are extensive facilities, four bars, private beach with free sunbeds and an amazing pool area. Linen and towels are provided. There is a massive pool area and your own private beach to spend sun filled days living it up.
Breakfast and dinner is provided, food is plentiful and extremely tasty. Cooked breakfasts three course dinners washed down with Ouzo of course (at dinner not breakfast that would be ridiculous).
You will need to arrange your own lunch, however there are plenty of restaurants locally restaurant that offer a large variety of low priced and quality Greek and international food. Eating lunch somewhere different each day is nice for a bit of variety. This way, you may stumble upon our favourite little spots: Tiny restaurants directly on the beach. The family owned restaurants will take you right in and make your Greek feast.
Often you don’t even have to look at the menu, they will just bring you out every single dish under the sun. Dolmades (grapevine leaves stuffed with rice and veggies), hummus and Feta. Hmmmm.
The first thing you should consider is whether you actually want to get around. Everything is available for you in resort, and there is a quaint beachside town within easy walking distance. If you do have itchy feet, there are several means of transportation for you in Corfu. Walking or ATV, scooters or you can opt for a minibus tour.
Quad biking around the island is fun but not necessary to explore the array of restaurants and shops directly below the resort.
When in Greece Toga Toga Toga! Socrates has a lot to answer for.
Expect a huge, metallic pink sheet to configure into whatever style toga your hearts desire. The Toga party happens once a fortnight and is a great way to break the ice. Underpants are optional. Included in the price you have free club entry every single night to the hottest nightclub in town. There is plenty going on but there are also some chilled out options if you want a little bit of relaxation as well.
Boat trip & kayaking
During your holiday you will get to go out on a boat trip, swimming, snorkelling cliff jumping and visiting Batcave just some of the highlights. The boat trip can turn into a bit of a boozy affair, so be warned!
You will get to do a couple of different activities throughout the week, as well as the boat trip you will also have access to Ocean kayaks, so one day you can go out and explore lots of hidden coves, secluded beaches and snorkel in Aqua Marine seas.
The island of Corfu is quite mountainous but is widely regarded as one of the most picturesque islands in Greece. Parts of the island are untouched by time. It is amazing to see the dozens of tiny villages where 70 year old Greek men sip coffee and play cards at the town cafe. If you make it to the top of the island you will be rewarded with the most beautiful view. It is truly an untouched island in the middle of Paradise.
Another highlight this awesome week is that you will go out on all-terrain vehicles on an epic Quad Safari. Check out Corfu with your new buddies and get to explore other parts of the island that will take your breath away.
Breakfast and dinner are included in your stay. Breakfast consists of eggs, bread, Greek yogurt, and cereal, and often has some fruit, cheese, and meat options. Guests are treated to a 3 course meal of soup, salad, and a main dish. There is always a vegetarian option. You are seated at tables of 8 for dinner, which gives you the chance to meet people and have (semi) sober conversations before the partying begins.
The booze cruise is not for the faint hearted. Right from boarding (you have to wade out in chest-deep water to get on the boat), you know you´re in for a wild time. Shotgunning beers, climbing and jumping off cliffs (naked, if you want free drinks), swimming in a bat cave, and playing the beach game (you´ll see), are all a standard part of the booze cruise. If your group is a wild one, who knows what could happen? There are also the Quad and Kayak safaris (lunch included), which take place several times a week, and are a great way to check out the beautiful island of Corfu. For the quad safari, be aware that you need a driver´s license if you want to be a driver (otherwise you´ll be a passenger on one of the quads), and between 5 and 10 euros to use as gas money. You also stop at a bar at the end of the safari and get the chance to try metaxa and coke, definitely worth the extra couple of euros. The Ouzo Cup Volleyball tournament takes place on days when the other activities aren´t happening. It´s 10 euros, and includes all the beer you can drink while the game is going on. Depending on the staff running it, and the participants, the volleyball game can be anything from a regular volleyball game, to: well, you can imagine (or can´t, but we definitely suggest trying it!).
If you are not into drinking, perhaps don’t book this. There are 4 bars at the resort. The reception bar is open 24 hours a day, and if you´re lucky, you´ll get the chance to hang out with Sue, the night time bartender. Upon arrival at the, all guests are given a shot of ouzo, the first of many. Happy Hour starts at reception bar at 5pm, with cheap beer, shots, and mixed drinks (if that first shot of ouzo tickles your fancy, try the Sue Special).
The drink deals continue down at the restaurant from 7-11, throughout dinner, so that you are nicely buzzed by the time the party starts.
The nightclub gets going after dinner, and stays open until all the guests have left. The theme changes, depending on the night- Cross dress night, ouzo circle, pyjama party, and flip cup, to name a few. The infamous toga party takes place on Saturday nights, and involves pink togas (underwear optional), ouzo shots, Greek dancing, and plate smashing. We´ll leave the rest up to your imagination. If the club atmosphere isn´t your thing, check out the brand new beach bar, with its view of the Aegean Sea. Open all day, until about 12-1am, the beach bar is a great place to have a margarita or quiet pint.
You will need to fly into Corfu, let us have your flight details prior to arrival and we will have you picked up and transferred to the resort. We will also drop you off at the airport to meet your flight on way home. Easy!
“So we got here…and you walk into an introduction about all the activities they do during the day, a few rules, and a shot of ouzo….yamas (cheers)!! The nights here are full of fun, great stories, great games, meeting amazing (and unique) people, and really just having a good time”
“You will definitely lose your mind and probably your clothes. Best week of my life.”
Come climb up the hill with Xtreme and throw gallons of cheap wine over perfectly innocent strangers. San Vino, as we call it, La Batalla del Vino de Haro, as the locals call it, is a full on war path in the middle of the vineyard and we own it. All’s fair in love and wine battles.
My childhood was filled with Xtreme moments. From the minute I busted forth from fruitful and dampened loins, to the minute I leapt from the top of the swing, landed on the playground and made that uppercut movement and was like, “yeah”, I have always been in search of a new place I can shower myself in new juices. So when I visited San Vino last year it was like I’d come full circle, and was also the fourth time I’ve been able to do that. The second and third time being when I spilt Fanta on myself and bent over to lick it up.
San Vino, as we call it, La Batalla del Vino de Haro, as the locals call it, is a full on war path in the middle of the vineyard and we own it. All’s fair in love and wine battles. We take a bus from Barcelona or San Sebastian to the small town of Haro, we party in our campsite and have dinner together to plan strategies for the battle.
We then pay last regards and walk into a town with your classic Spanish street festival. If you’ve never been to a Spanish street festival, holy vineyard… this is the one. Bands everywhere, open drinking in the streets and in the morning we all go throw wine on each other. In the vineyard, as the sun rises.
Farmers versus public servants, women versus serfs, tourists versus that tree that was lookin’ at you funny. It’s a no-holds-barred rootin’ tootin’ red wine drinkin’ beautyfest.
At the filthy end you can choose to swim down the creek back home, drop in on a farmers truck to come back, swim in the pool at our campsite, all the while discarding wine at your feet like some hoboriffic wino Hansel and Gretel. We spend another night in the idyllic, mountainous town partying up a storm and running riot, and then we all dust off, drink a bit more and head back to Barcelona or San Sebastian. Because that’s just how it’s going to happen.
Sleep: 2 nights’ Camping accommodation (twin share tent, mattress & sleeping bag provided and set-up for you).
Benicassim Festival is like Glastonbury without the mud. If you missed the mud don’t worry you can make up for it with golden sands pure Mediterranean sunshine and some of the best live acts and lineups out of all summer festivals in Europe. When we do Benicassim Festival we go Xtreme! That means big groups of guys and girls up for a party. You have been warned. Fly into Barcelona on a cheap flight and make July awesome.
Benicassim is one of those festivals we love just because it really doesn’t matter who plays. The Bingy bongys? The sha la lalaylas? The wingy dingy who-nows? Whatever. The town becomes a beautiful festival in itself. When Xtreme comes to town we rock the shit out of it. Consider it like a Spanish Glastonbury, except instead of mud and miserable weather you have golden sand on the beach and the full-blown Mediterranean summer accompanying seriously loud music. Ohh Yeah Bring it on.
Benicassim is one of those festivals we love just because it really doesn’t matter who plays. The Bingy bongys? The sha la lalaylas? The wingy dingy who-nows? Whatever. The town becomes a beautiful festival in itself.
Don’t get us wrong, it’s an awesome lineup every year, and it’s organised so well that you can’t go to the loo without someone helping you out to where you need to go and how you need to do it. It’s in the middle of a desert, for 4 days, next to a beach, in a sleepy town with fountains and public libraries and municipal facilities that let you do whatever you want for those four precious, special little days. It started as the little festival that could, and became the big festival that did.
It’s everything you want, and not much more. But why would you need more? It’s everything you want. So stop asking.
When we go, we rock the shit out of it.
Everyone moves to our set and learns to our grooves, and once again we get reminded why our friends and us get proclaimed the monarchy of dance, every single night. Self-proclaimed. But still. Jealousy it seems, takes many forms.
One of the best festivals is always the one where you needn’t worry for showering, taking naps, snaps and chicken wraps because you can do all that at the beach tomorrow, and then head on back to the festival that night. Year after year this tiny Spanish town takes us in with our blowup Lilo mattresses in the town fountains, in the beaches, on the hills, on top of crowds, the limit is with your imagination, my new friends.
The festival has a stellar lineup every time and an excellent Spanish reputation for making you sweat out your sleep from about 5 am til 9am, and then it’s straight down the beach til the music starts again at 4pm.
I’m telling you, Benicassim is raw and it’s great and for £349 all included? You’d be stupid not to.
Camping accommodation at the festival and 5 minutes from the beach with tent, sleeping bag and mattress provided, Breakfasts every morning, Experienced (ie. previously partied) guides

Our rep can tell you all about the nice places to eat.
