We just had a question in from Jmaes…Where to do my Divemaster course. I want to choose between the Divemaster course in the Philippines and the Divemaster course in Honduras

Here is my advise:

Hi James,
Thank you for your email! My name is Debby and I am one of the owners of Xtreme Gap Year. We do explore a lot and there is always one member of our team been to the programmes we sell on out travel website.

I have not been to Honduras myself but I was in the Philippines (on Malapscua where we have our Divemaster programme) the beginning of this year, 2011. Ohhhhhhh I absolutely loved it! The see is bluer than blue the beach whiter than white. The diving is great and so are the dive boats, they are so authentic. Ols fishing boats and great to relax on. The dive sites are sometimes a bit more remote so in between dives you have lunch o this deserted island with palm trees…Oh how I wish I could go back!! The resort where you stay has the dive school attached and it is run by a young and very ambitious and friendly couple.

In Roatan we had many customers going already since this is a bit longer on our website. All loved it! This diveschool is also right on the beach and there is a good community feel here. Some even trained to stay longer and to do their Dive instructor course.

The big difference is

Roatan (dm Honduras) is bigger and more commercial. This means more party options and more tourists which can be lots of fun and there is more to explore. Also the diving is more various then in the Philippines.

On the other hand in the Philippines the local people are the nicest I have ever met! The island is tiny so you get to know everyone and everything very quickly and it is very very save! Here is one of the only places you can see the thresher shark and hammer heads. It is really unspoiled…bus as I said, a very tiny island.

Choices choices….

In both places we had very satisfied customers. Maybe it also depends on flight prices and on when youy would like to go. So before you make your decision check out the weather and a good idea is to look at www.skyscanner.net for flight prices.

I myself did my Divemaster training in Thailand. And here you find a link to all our Diving programmes in all destinations…..Ohhh the Gili´s in Indonesia is great too!!!!!
