The Buddhism & Culture Week on the Thailand Experience

During the Xtreme Gap Thailand Experience you can choose between the Trekking week, the Buddhism & Culture week and the Elephant week.

The Buddhism & Culture week
After your introduction week on the Thailand Experience we take you to what they call the ‘Switzerland of Thailand’. In Wang Nam Khieo you find beautiful hilly surroundings and a lot of fresh air and nature.

It is quite a ride to get here from the location of the introduction week, but totally worth it! Your time will be spend in the Forest Resort, a luxury new resort and in a newly built dorm accommodation next to the ancient Thai temple.

If you choose the Buddhism & Culture week to be your second week, you will get to know a lot more about Buddhism and Thai culture. During this week you will visit temples, you have the opportunity to ask your questions about Buddhism to th monks, we will teach you about practicing meditation and chanting in a quiet and spiritual environment.

Our guide will is very knowledgeable and will tell you all you need to know. If you have a real interest in Buddhism & Culture, this is the programme for you!

During the temple stay you will experience the Thai temple life first hand, and it is pretty impressive and special.

My experience:
My name is Debby, the owner of Xtreme Gap, and I went on the Buddhism & Culture week in Thailand, because first had information is the best! I absolutely loved our guide, she was wonderful, intelligent and told us all we needed to know about this week. The accommodation was brand new, the food was good, although I think I lost some weight since it was rice with a lot of veggies (actually the monks made up for it as when we met him he kept on throwing candy at the group, see picture below). The groups was young, between 18 and 25, but because it was a new experience for us all I did not feel out of place at all (yes I am from 1974 help!).

Please Note:
- Please bring your own white clothes which is not tight or see through if you don’t have any please buy some before departing to Buddhism week.
- Be calm and quiet during and following meditation and chanting.
- Monks only eat one meal per day so we probably don’t have dinner on Wednesday.
-Men and women cannot sleep together during temple stay and no passionate contact during temple stay.
-Please do not point your feet to the monks or the Buddha.
- Women are not allowed to stay close to monks or touch the monks so please be cautious.

Yeah, time for tropical paradise island life!!
After two intense weeks of Thai Culture in the first week and ‘no drinking and a lot of culture’ in the second week it is time for the Koh Tao Adventure. Two weeks of sun, beach, party. Some really cool activities like rock climbing and snorkeling and… the Full Moon party!
How to get to the Paradise island called Koh Tao? Well after the second week we take you back to Bangkok where you send a night in a 3 star hotel in the backpackers district of Bangkok. This means shopping and people watching! The next evening we have arranged transport to Koh Tao.
